All of us have the same amount of time available:
60 seconds in a minute
60 minutes in an hour
24 hours a day
And 168 hours a week.
Time Management is the Act of Controlling Events.
The heart of time management is self
management. Essentially everything we do
requires time.
Some activities are externally controlled, other
activities are internally controlled.
3. WHAT IS GOOD TIME
MANAGEMENT?
Good time management is:
Setting smart goals that can be
realistically accomplished.
Establishing priorities.
Assuming full responsibility for the
use or abuse of that valuable
resource called time.
4. CATEGORIZATIONSCHEMEFORTIME
MANAGEMENT
First generation:
reminders based on
clocks and watches,
but with computer
implementation
possible, can be used to
alert of the time when
a task is to be done.
Second generation:
planning and
preparation based on
calendars and
appointment books,
includes setting goals.
Third generation:
planning, prioritizing,
controlling (using a
personal organizer or
other computer
resources).
Fourth generation:
being efficient and
proactive using any of
the above tools places
goals and roles as the
controlling element of
the system, and favors
importance over
urgency.
Time management refers to a range
of skills, tools, and techniques used
to manage time when accomplishing
specific tasks, projects and goals.
This set encompass a wide scope of
activities, and these include
planning, allocating, setting goals,
delegation, analysis of time spent,
monitoring, organizing, scheduling,
and prioritizing.
Initially time management referred
to just business or work activities,
but eventually the term broadned to
include personal activities also.
A time management system is a
designed combination of tools and
techiques to control activities.
