1. Export Data of Sorbitol in China
The total export volume of Chinese sorbitol reached 57,527.67 tonnes from Jan. to Oct. 2011,
decreasing by 15.94% over the corresponding period of 2010.

Many China's sorbitol producers have endeavored to enlarge export volume to Africa,
Southeast Asia and Middle East since 2010. For example, Shandong Tianli further expanded
its sorbitol volume to Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh respectively with volume of 1,123
tonnes, 582 tonnes and 499 tonnes in the first three months of 2010. Additionally, Roquette
(China) Co., Ltd. (Roquette China) also increased its sorbitol export volume to 1,113 tonnes to
Vietnam in the first three months of 2010.
According to Mr. Zhu, Deputy General Manager from Shandong Tianli, sorbitol application has
been changing from raw material for Vitamin C production to chemical industry, daily-use
chemicals industry, food industry and medicine industry, and demand for sorbitol in these
areas has been growing rapidly in the world year by year. Take Nigeria as an example, Nigeria
government has planned to greatly boost its medicine production with CAGR of14.3% in the
future five years. In this situation, Nigeria has probably boosted pharmaceutical grade sorbitol
import from China since 2010.

Additionally, the implementation of zero tariffs between China- ASEAN since January 2010
also facilitates Chinese sorbitol producers to largely export sorbitol to ASEAN member
countries such as Vietnam and Thailand.
