Advent Bible Study: The Lay Ministry Committee is hosting
Bible discussion groups throughout the season of Advent
between the 8:00am and 10:00am services. This
congregationally-led discussion group will explore the Advent
Sunday scriptural readings following the Advent themes of
hope, love, joy and peace. Meetings will be held in the Arthur
Smith Room unless otherwise indicated. For details, contact
David Moore or the Reverend Canon Douglas Graydon. The
study continues today, and the readings are Isaiah 11:1-10 &
Matthew 3:1-12. The readings for December 15th are Isaiah 35:110 & Matthew 11:2-11.
Advent Readings for Reflection and Nourishment - The parish
clergy have prepared a list of Advent Readings for you to
select from to assist you in your Advent spiritual practice. The
list is on display in the atrium and also on the parish website.

PromiseLand Kids are invited to stay in the Sanctuary with
their families for the Opening Hymn and Lighting of the
Advent Candle and then we will go down to the Chapel of St.
Nicholas together.
The Nest (certified childcare for infants to age 4) is open
during the Sunday 10 am service on the third floor.

Elliott Hall through the Chapel upstairs.

1:30 pm) at the public parking lot, just across from the church
on Heath Street. Stamp your parking ticket using the church
address stamp found on the table at the bell-tower door.
After Church, go to the customer service office with your
validated ticket where you will be given an exit ticket. Please
park only on the lower levels.

2. A Christmas Fair De-briefing Meeting will be held today after
the 10 am service in the Arthur Smith Room.
Challenging Christianity meets this Friday, December 13 from
12:00 - 1:30 pm in the Arthur Smith Room. The topic for
discussion is: Incarnation: embodying the Spirit of Christmas.

Children & Youth Programs
The Nest is our childcare program for children under the
age of 4. The Nest opens prior to the 10:00 service in our
nursery space on the third floor. Tuta Shurdha is our
certified Nest coordinator, and she is accompanied by a
volunteer parent or teen assistant. If you would like to use
this service, please ask one of the sidespeople to direct
you to the Nest.
PromiseLand is our church school for children from the
ages of 5 to 12. The children meet in the church at 10:00
am, and then move to the St. Nicholas Chapel during the
opening hymn. Natalie Kemp is our Director of
Children’s Education, and would be happy to tell you
more about Promiseland.
YAL – Young Anglican Leaders meet regularly for
learning, fellowship, food and fun. Please speak with
Natalie Kemp for more details about YAL.
The Christmas Pageant will take place at the 7:00 pm service
on Christmas Eve, and the children of Promiseland are now
rehearsing. All young people are invited to participate. The
7:00 pm service is casual, family-friendly, and less than an
hour in length – a great choice for young families! We look
forward to having you with us!
Announcement of a Memorial Service for Pat Anderson
A memorial service for Patricia Anderson will be held next
Saturday, December 14th at 1 pm at the Humphrey Funeral
Home A.W. Miles Chapel located at 1403 Bayview Avenue (just
south of Davisville on the east side). Visitation will be at noon.
Decorating the Church for Christmas! We are asking for
volunteers to assist in the decorating of the church on
Tuesday December 17th at 9:30 am. We will be finished in
time to join the ACW Christmas lunch at noon.
St. Andrews/ ACW are having their annual Christmas Party
on Tuesday December 17th at 12 noon. Come for some
good cheer, lunch and carol sing-along to end it all. Hope
to see you there.
At Synod last weekend, our rector was appointed an
Honorary Canon of the Cathedral Church of St. James. The
installation of the new canons will take place on Sunday,
January 19 at 4:30 pm at the Cathedral. All are welcome.
Mark your calendars! The Annual Vestry Meeting (AGM) for
our parish will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2014.
Leaders of parish groups are asked to submit their reports
electronically to the parish office by the end of January.
