Pero cuando se producen tormentas solares, el viento, más violento, llega a nuestra atmósfera a través de los polos y el impacto de esas partículas de energía contra las moléculas de hidrógeno y oxígeno hacen que emitan fotones de luz. Este fenómenos se produce a la vez en los dos polos. An intense particle flow, known as Solar Wind, is deflected by our magnetic field, that acts as a defense.But when solar storms occur, the wind, more violent,reaches our atmosphere through the poles, and the impact of those energy particles against the hydrogen and oxygen molecules do emit fotons of light.This phenomenon occurs at atime in the two poles.

Entre los meses de Junio a Septiembre , abundante agua de las lluvias se acumula entre las dunas, formando estanques de color verde azulado. A veces duran todo el año y a veces se secan hasta que vuelve a llover. Estos lagos son de gran interés turístico. It is in the Brazilian state of Maranhao. From June to September, abundant rainwater accumulates in the dunes, forming bue- green ponds. They sometimes have water throughout the year and others get dry until it rains again. These lakes are of great tourist interest.

13. En el Valle de la Muerte , en Estados Unidos, las piedras de decenas de kilos parecen flotar en el desierto, desplazándose cientos de metros por sí solas. Algunos creen que se debe al fuerte viento, pero no explica que piedras de diferente tamaño y peso se muevan de forma paralela y a la vez en diferentes direcciones. El viento puede mover piedras pequeñas pero, no puede mover piedras grandes y pesadas. In the Death Valley, in the United States, dozen of kilos stones seem to float in the desert, moving hundreds of meters by themselves.Some people believe that it’s due to strong wind, but it doesn’t explain that stones of different size and weigh can move in parallel and at the same time in different directions.The wind can move small stones but it can’t move big and heavy stones.

23. El lago está en el volcán activo de Mount Manaro, en Melanesia. Este volcán está considerado como uno de los más peligrosos del mundo debido al lago que hay sobre su cráter. Las aguas del lago Voui se volvieron en pocos días de color rojo. Los científicos creen que hay filtraciones de hierro procedente de las rocas, en las aguas del lago. The lake is in de active volcano of Mount Manaro, in Melanesia. This volcano is considered one of the mos dangerous in the world because of the lake on the crater. The lake Voui waters turned red in a few days. The scientists think there are iron leaks from the rocks in the lake waters.

Algunos científicos dicen que estos círculos de hielo se forman por remolinos naturales en el agua, que al subir a la superficie, forman circunferencias perfectas en la capa de hielo de la superficie. Hay círculos de diferente diámetro en diferentes partes del mundo. El más grande tiene 150 m. de diámetro. Some scientists say that these ice circles are formed by natural water swrils, that form perfect circumferences on ice, when they surface. There are different diameter circles in different parts of the world. The largest is 150 meters in diameter.

29. Era una antigua prospección de gas en el Desierto de Karakum, junto a Darvaza en Tukmenistán. En los años 1950 el gobierno soviético realizó un pozo de 60m de diámetro por 20m de profundidad. En 1971 la tierra se hundió y se encontró una cueva llena de gas natural. Desde entonces, el fuego arde y parece que continuará ardiendo unos 40 años más. The hole was an old gas exploration in the Karakum Desert, near Darvaza in Tukmenistán. During the 50s, the Soviet Government made a hole of 60m in diameter and 20m deep. In 1971 the land sank and geologists found a cave full of natural gas. Since then the fire burns and it seems it will go on burning for more than forty years .

32. El lago Kackson, en Florida, no tiene salidas ni drenajes. Sin embargo, en Septiembre de 1999, su caudal desapareció en pocas horas junto con sus peces. Aunque parece extraño, tiene una explicación, conocida como Sinkholes, que ocurre cada 25 años .El fondo del lago se encuentra sobre una capa subterránea de piedra caliza, que debido a la erosión, se hunde y en forma de embudo, se traga el agua en pocas horas. Lake Jackson, in Florida, does not have outlets or drains. However, in September 1999, its flow desappeared in only a few hours, with its fish. Although it’s strange, it has an explanation known as Sinkholes, that happens every 25 years.The bottom of the lake is on an underground layer of limestone, that due to erosion, sinks and in funnel-shaped swallows the waters in a few hours.

Entre las más famosas están las “Giant’s Causeway” en Irlanda y las “Devil’s Tower” en Estados Unidos. También “Los Órganos” en la isla de La Gomera en Canarias. The thick lava flows contracted at a vertical angle when cooled, producing a geometric figure. The columns have a regular hexagonal shape. Las algas en sí no son peligrosas, pero aumentan las sustancias tóxicas en el mar lo que produce la muerte de numerosos peces y otras animales, como aves. Tienen un gran impacto económico. The colour is due to a large amount of unicelular red algae near the coasts. Despite the fact that they are not dangerous, toxic substances increase in the sea. This causes the death of many fish and other animals such as birds. They have a big economic impact.

Este efecto sucede por la noche, en los mismos mares y playas donde durante el día se puede ver la marea roja. It’s an effect of extraordinary beauty, produced by millions of bioluminiscent organisms that react when disturbed. This effect happens at night, in the same seas and beaches where during the day the red tide can be seen.

42. NUBES MAMMATUSMAMMATUS CLOUDS

43. Las nubes mammatus son altocúmulos en forma de ubre, normalmente a una altura de unos 4.000 m. Su aparición es un pronóstico de grandes tormentas. Estas nubes contienen cristales de hielo y pueden extenderse centenares de kilómetros. A veces permanecen estáticas más de veinte minutos. Mammatus clouds are udder-shaped altocummulus usually at a height of 4,000 m. Its appearance is forecast of heavy storms. These clouds have ice crystals and can extend hundreds kilometers. They sometimes remain static for more than twenty minutes.

45. ARCO IRIS DE FUEGOFIRE RAINBOW

46. Son extremadamente raros. Se producen por una convergencia de los rayos del sol en algunas nubes tipo cirros que deben tener una posición específica. Con el reflejo del sol los cristales de hielo de las nubes producen rayos visibles de diferentes colores. La luz debe incidir sobre los cristales con un ángulo de 58º. Se pueden ver en lugares muy frios del Norte de Europa y Canadá. They are extremely rare. They are produced by a convergence of the sun rays, always with an incidence of 58º,and some clouds, cirrus clouds, that must have an specific position.With sun glare the ice crystals in the clouds produce visible rays of different colours. They can be seen in very cold places in Northern Europe and Canada.

49. EL DESIERTO LLENO DE LAGOSTHE DESERT FULL OF LAKES

50. Llamado desierto de Badai Jarán que significa de los lagos misteriosos, se encuentra en la región de Mongolia interior, al norte de China. En él se pueden ver las dunas más altas del mundo, que se mantienen húmedas en su interior, y entre ellas, numerosos lagos. Las lluvias son muy escasas pero el agua procede de fuentes subterráneas que fluyen desde las montañas Quilian, a unos 350 Km de distancia. Algunos lagos más antiguos tienen un alto grado de salinidad. It’s called Desert of Badai Jarán or desert of mysterious lakes. It is in the region of Inner Mongolia, to the North of China. There it can be found the world’s highest sand dunes that keep moisture inside, and among them a lot of lakes. The rains are scarce, but the water comes from underground sources flowing from the mountains Quilian about 350 km away. Some lakes, the oldest, have a high degree of salinity.

53. UN OCÉANO DE SAL SALT OCEAN

54. El Salar de Uyuni en Bolivia no es sólo el mayor desierto de sal del mundo, sino un maravilloso espejo. Durante la estación húmeda, las lluvias dejan una fina capa de agua sobre la llanura. La incidencia de la luz sobre la superficie hace que parezca un espejo. Este salar es el resultado de la retirada del océano de los altiplanos bolivianos. Está situado a 3.656. sobre el nivel del mar. Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is not only the world’s largest salt flat, but also a wonderful mirror. During the wet season, the rains leave a thin layer of water on the plain. The incidence of light on the surface makes it look like a mirror. This salar is the result of the withdrawal of the ocean from the Bolivian highlands.It is elevated 3,656 m. above the sea level.
