2. Los principales grupos de deidades y/o espíritus de la mitología mapuche, son el Pillan y
Wangulén (espíritus ancestrales), el Ngen (espíritus de la naturaleza) y la wekufe (espíritus
malignos). Ngenechen y Antu son las deidades principales. Eje central de la creencia mapuche
es el machi "chamán“, por lo general, una mujer. La machi realiza ceremonias para curar
enfermedades, alejar el mal, el clima, las cosechas, influyendo en las interacciones sociales y el
trabajo con los sueños. Las machis, a menudo, tienen un amplio conocimiento de las hierbas
medicinales chilenas, y también de las piedras sagradas y los animales sagrados.

10. Es un instrumento típico aún vigente en el área mapuche. Se usa como acompañamiento
cuando se toca el cultrún en las ceremonias religiosas. Es una cinta o faja de cuero atada a la
mano, a la que van unidos unos cascabeles de bronce, atándose a la mano que percute el
cultrún; también suenan cuando se mueven los bailarines.

pulsa la lengüeta produciendo sonidos monocordes. Con el trompe se pueden ejecutar sonidos
bien característicos de las culturas prehispánicas sudamericanas.

Pifilca: a flute made of wood or bone. It is short and sounds like a whistle. They hang
it from their necks with a string. The lower end of the tube is closed and holes are
opened to half-way its length. It gives out only one sound and this sole note is mixed
throughout a song or an instrumental piece without any rhythmic or tune relation
with the rest.

13. Cull cull: era el clarín utilizado como una
alarma en caso de emergencia o de
guerra. Fue hecho con cuernos de buey.

horns.

14. Wada: Especie de maraca, es una calabaza que suena con
pepas secas y a veces piedrecillas.
Wada: a kind of maraca, made with a gourd that sounds

15. Pinkullwe o Kina: Tubo sonoro que se obtiene comúnmente de pinaka, cortadera, kila, tallo
de cicuta o caña de castilla. El largo total es de 28 a 35 cm aproximadamente. Es una flauta
traversa, clasificada como aerófono de soplo, de filo, sin canal de insuflación, aislado,
abierto, con cuatro orificios de obturación y de ejecución transversal. Este instrumento tenía
poca difusión debido a la complejidad en su ejecución.
Pinkullwe or Kina: Tube sound commonly obtained

The Indian chronicler Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala, wrote in 1615:
“The most important musical instrument of every culture is the human voice,
it conveys emotions, knowledge, share thoughts, not only among men, but
with all of nature, visible and invisible”.
