Introductions Who are you? What brought you here today?
Activating Icebreaker! Consider how our world has changed since you were eleven years old. Name five changes that have had significant implications for education.
Tapscott and Williams (2010) We believe that if the university opens up and embraces collaborative learning and collaborative knowledge production, it has a chance of surviving and even thriving in the networked global economy.
Wesch (2008) The most significant problem with education today is the problem of significance itself. Students – our important critics – are struggling to find meaning and significance in their education.
Wiley (2006) The world is changing in many ways…higher education has adapted too little  in response to these changes and is consequently in very real danger of becoming irrelevant. Higher education’s willingness and ability to evolve toward openness will be a strong predictor of its future relevance.

  • 6. Tapscott and Williams (2010) We believe that if the university opens up and embraces collaborative learning and collaborative knowledge production, it has a chance of surviving and even thriving in the networked global economy.
  • 7. Wesch (2008) The most significant problem with education today is the problem of significance itself. Students – our important critics – are struggling to find meaning and significance in their education.
  • 8. Wiley (2006) The world is changing in many ways…higher education has adapted too little in response to these changes and is consequently in very real danger of becoming irrelevant. Higher education’s willingness and ability to evolve toward openness will be a strong predictor of its future relevance.
