2. Thesis
- Martin guitars are one the premier manufactorors in the world. There is a lot of
attention to detail that make each guitar distinct in looks, and price. Sound and
shape play a large role in what guitar players look for in a guitar. Can the same
sound quality in Martin guitars be achieved even if the body type and prices of
the guitar are vastly different?
Supporting Points
- There is large variety of Martin guitar body types - ( 0,00,000,M,OM,D,HD,J)
- There is large range of prices for Martin guitars from hundreds to thousands of
dollars
- There are many details applied from the types of wood in the body, neck,
fretboard, to headstocks, and inlays
Methodology
- Narrow down range of guitars focus on a type of series (standard series)
- Series allows for a variety of comparison between different guitars
- Research the different body types within the series
- See where the body types fall within a range of sound quality
- Look at different woods that are used in the guitars
- Look at sound quality of woods as well as prices for each type of wood
- Compare research variables with eachother to produce a 3D diagram to try and
make sense of the thesis

11. Conclusion
- The comparisons of the body type to sound quality to
price, show that the price of the guitars may remain
similar even though the body type changes. The body
type seems to influence the changes in the sound quality.
- For each type of guitar the sound quality seems to stay
the same even though price varies.
Next Step
- Try testing out another series of guitar
- Try testing out a range of guitars with the same body
type, by looking at a wider variety of woods
-Look at different guitar manufacturers, see if thesis
applies
