Offsides
Offsides Players of an attackingteamshallnotprecede the puckinto theirattackingzone If a playergoesover the bluelinebefore the puck and plays the puck -> blow the whistle       -> extend the armhorizontallypointingalong the blueline 2.    If the puckhasbeenshot to the endzone and a player is therebefore the puck      => DELAYED OFFSIDE!      -> non-whistlearmfullyextendedabove the head      -> useyourvoice!!      OBS.       - if the puckhasbeenshot on goal -> whistleimmediately 3. The referee shalldrophisarm to nullify the delayedoffside and allow    the play continueif:     1. The puckhasbeenplayed to the neutralzone     OR    2. AllattackingplayersIMMEDIATELY clear the attackingzonebymaking skatecontact with the blueline x 2 1 x
Offsides 4. The referee whowhistles the offside, points the face-offspot    and the ”free” referee brings the puck 5. In the case that the puckhasbeenpassed to the playerwho is    in the attackingzonea face-offshallbeconducted at the nearest face-offspotwhere the passoriginated 6. If the offside is causedintentionally the face-offspotwillbe in the defendingzone of the offendingteam REMEMBER! -Thedeterminingfactors in deciding an offsideare:  1. The PLAYER’S SKATES POSITON – player is offsidewhenbothskatesarecompletelyover the blueline in hisattakingzonebefore the puckcompletelycrosses the line  2. The PUCK POSITION – the puckshallhavecompletelycrossed the blueline into the attacking zone  3. If a player is propelling the puck and crosses the lineahead of the puckwhileskating backward, the player is notoffsideprovided he is actually in control of the puck and hasboth skates in the neutralzonebeforecrossing the blueline 1. . . 2.
Icing

Icing procedure In the case of an icing the     BACK REFEREE: -Signals a possible icing, byfullyextending non-whistlearmoverhishead -Thearmshallremainraiseduntil the front referee eitherblows the whistle to indicate an icing, or until the icing is washed out. -Once the icing hasbeencompleted he shows the icing signal and point to the appropriate face-offspot and skate to it -Starts the playerschangingprocedure -Takeshisplaceclose the blueline
Icing procedure In the case of an icing the FRONT REFEREE: - Makes the finaldecision is it icing ornot ->Make the decisionnotlaterthan the outeredge    of the endzoneface-offcircles! - Whistles a possible icing, brings the puck and conducts the face-off - If he decides to wash out the icing and the back   refereehashisarmup the back referee shouldput hisarmdown and he canalsogive the wash out signal

Face-Offs Make sure thatbothteamshaveequalchances for winningface-off!  -The Referee conducting the face-offshallbeaware that the correctnumbers of playersare on the ice before he drops the puck! (alsootherref) -Skates inside the ”L” -Sticks on the ice on the white part of the face-offspots -Playersnotparticipating in the face-offshall be outside the face-offcircle and stay on their own side (skates) -Theplayer of the attackingteamshallplacehisstick on the ice first

Penaltyshot Fiveconditionsarerequired to award a Penaltyshot for a playerbeingfouledfrombehind: 1. The puck is outside of the player’sdefendingzone  2. The playermustbe in possession and havecontrol of the puck 3. The infractionmusthavebeencommittedfrombehind 4. The playermusthavebeendenied a REASONABLE SCORING       OPPORTUNITY 5. The playermusthavehad no opposingplayers to pass      to otherthan the goalkeeper
Penaltyshot A penaltyshotcanbeawarded in thosesituationswhere a goalkeeperfouls a player in a break-awaysituation, regardlessif the infraction takesplacefrombehindornot The playerfouledshallbedesignated to take the penaltyshot Referee:      - Stop the game      - Show the penaltyshotsignal (armscrossedabove the head)      - Tellit to the scorekeeper.
