This Facebook tutorial will show you how to add additional information to your profile

1. Facebook: Personal Profile Additional Information Tutorial Transcription
This is picking up where we left off after we set up our personal profile for Facebook. In
this tutorial we will discuss additional adjustments to make to your profile before adding
your friends.
Write Something About Yourself
1. Under your picture on your profile you will see a box that says “Write something
about yourself.” Click on “Write something about yourself”.
2. Write something that is quick, concise and to the point. You may want to keep it
the same as what you have on your Twitter account. You may also choose to keep
it business oriented or more personal depending on who you are planning on
adding to your network.
Custom URL - Facebook allows you to customize the URL of your profile so that it is
easier for others to remember.
2. To do this, go to ‘www.facebook.com/username’. You will be asked to confirm
your account. Click “Continue.”
3. They will now ask you to enter your cell phone number so that they can send you
a text in order to confirm that you are not a spammer and that your account is not
a dummy account. Sometimes this security check appears and sometimes it does
not.
4. Now, a box will ask you to enter in the custom part of your URL. It is
recommended that you enter your first name and last name. If it is taken, which it
might be, start entering variations such as using the initial of your first name and
last name, or first name and initial of your last name. Keep playing around with
these variations until you come across one that is available.
5. Click save these changes.
Facebook’s Terms of Service - Facebook has Terms of Service that you should abide by
when using their site, one of which is that you are not allowed to use commercial
messages on your profile. If you would like to use commercial messages, you should do
so on your fan page, or more commonly referred to as a business page.. This will be
discussed in another tutorial. Mind you even through this is in their terms of service
Facebook has yet to enforce this rule. Please keep in mind that you should not be
blatantly commercial on your personal profile by bombarding your friends and network
with messages about business as it may turn off your friends. A good rule is to keep 80%
of your messages personal or good articles you came across. Once you have 8 or 9 of
these personal messages you can pick 1 or 2 messages to be commercial messages.

2. Adding Photos/Creating Photo Albums - The next step is to add photos to your profile.
This is a big part of Facebook because most people are primarily interested in looking at
photos to keep up to date with you so take the time to add photos to your profile.
6. Go to your home page. In the upper right, click on “Profile”. This will take you to
your personal profile.
7. You will see some tabs (Wall, Info, Photos) at the top of your profile page under
your name. Click on the “Photos” tab.
8. Click on “Create a Photo Album” located on the upper right. Make sure to have
your photos saved in an easy to find location on your computer.
9. Fill out the “Album Name” section.
10. You may want to fill out the “Location” section, for example, with the name of
your vacation destination if you are uploading an album of your vacation.
11. In the “Privacy” drop down menu, you can choose who has access to view your
photos. You may want to choose “Everyone” unless you want to segment your
friends, family and clients.
12. When you are done filling everything out, click “Create Album.”
13. Now it is time to upload your photos. You will see five “Browse” buttons. Click
on those to choose photos from your computer to upload to your Facebook photo
album.
14. Click on the little box underneath in order to certify that your photos do not
violate any Terms of Use.
15. When you are done click “Upload Photos.”
16. Click “Save Changes.”
17. Click “Publish.” This will publish your album on your profile page as well as
notify your network that you have created a new album.
18. Click “Back to My Photos” and you can see your album.
