  1. This presentation is meant to combine the theoretical concept of problem based learning with the practical steps necessary to deliver a Blackboard course based on PBL.
  2. The problem comes first. not about memorizing and re-producing facts
  3. We will be applying this cycle to today’s workshop.
  4. One of the biggest mistakes I usually see from faculty. Don’t Under Estimate the Importance of Knowing How to Use the Tools Available in Your LMS
  5. probably the biggest hurdle for getting it right. really more suited to education that requires students to solve problems with newly gained knowledge. Google for example problems for your discipline.
  6. Most online tools for learning seem to fall into two categories: those that show and those that help us communicate and collaborate.
  7. this is a sad moment for many. Don’t worry your still the expert.
  8. assess often and regularly. Rubrics are your friend. I can’t stress this enough.
  9. a word about collaboration, major shift from the norm for american education.
  10. extra trouble but necessary
  11. focus for this workshop are the following five tools. not an exhaustive list but a start.
  12. learn the technical then apply to achieve the end result you want. Don’t try to make a tool do something that it was never intended to do.
