Solar
System
Project
Due:
Thursday,
February
5,
2014
Now
that
we
have
studied
our
solar
system
it’s
time
to
show
what
you
know
with
an
at-‐home
project!
You
will
be
responsible
for
creating
a
model
of
the
solar
system
that
includes
all
of
the
planets
(including
the
dwarf
planet
Pluto)
and
the
sun,
choosing
a
planet
or
other
space
related
subject
to
do
a
written
report
on,
and
giving
an
oral
presentation.
Solar
System
Model:
The
model
you
create
must
include
all
nine
planets,
including
the
dwarf
planet
Pluto,
and
the
sun.
You
can
create
your
model
in
a
variety
of
ways,
but
it
may
not
be
bigger
than
20
inches
long,
18
inches
wide,
and
18
inches
tall.
You
can
make
a
mobile,
a
three-‐dimensional
poster,
a
model
using
Styrofoam
and
kabob
sticks.
.
.there
are
a
lot
of
possibilities!
You
will
need
to
clearly
label
each
piece
in
your
model
and
title
it
as
well.
Get
creative
and
make
it
realistic.
All
of
the
planets
are
not
the
same
size,
color,
or
distance
from
the
sun,
so
take
all
of
those
things
into
consideration.
Report:
Write
an
informational
report
about
a
topic
related
to
the
solar
system
or
space
that
you
choose.
You
can
choose
a
planet,
asteroids,
the
black
hole,
the
Mars
Rover.
.
.
there
are
many
possibilities.
Become
an
expert
on
it
by
looking
up
information
in
books
from
the
library,
on
the
internet,
on
educational
movies
or
shows,
or
at
museums.
Fill
out
the
graphic
organizer
to
help
you
decide
what
information
you
should
include
in
your
report,
then
write
your
report
in
paragraph
format
either
by
hand
or
by
typing
it
on
the
computer.
Include
at
least
one
picture
or
drawing
of
the
subject
you
have
studied,
along
with
any
notes
or
copies
of
the
information
you
used
for
research.
Oral
Presentation:
You
will
give
a
short
(2-‐3)
minute
presentation
to
the
class.
In
the
presentation
you
will
need
to
tell
the
class
what
you
chose
to
study,
why
it’s
important
to
our
solar
system,
at
least
five
interesting
facts
about
it,
and
answer
three
questions
from
the
class.
At
this
time
you
will
also
show
the
class
your
solar
system
model.
You
may
use
notecards,
but
please
do
not
read
straight
out
of
your
report.
