Introduction
 Luigi’s Italiano is in need of a new Point of Sale (POS)
system. This hometown Italian bistro is serving more
and more customers every day and needs to become
more efficient to increase revenue and productivity.
 Apple offers the iPad that carries a state of the art POS
system. ShopKeep software can be used to create and
manage all types of POS systems for any corporation.
 Multiple restaurants in our area, that we compete with,
have switched to this system and we must do the same
  to stay competitive.
Luigi’s Italiano
 A family owned and operated Italian Bistro located in
    Northern Pittsburgh.
 Serving the finest Italian cuisine in Pennsylvania.
 Rapidly growing.
 Aspiring to branch out and franchise into numerous
    bistros across the country.
 Our main competition includes Olive Garden and
    Carabba’s Italian Grill.
 Currently in need of a new Point of Sale (POS) system.
Apple History
 Apple was established on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve
Wozniak and Ronald Wayne (Business Insider).
 Wayne left the company after just two weeks with the
feeling that there was no money to be made. He sold his
10% stake in the company back to Jobs and Wozniak for
$800. It is estimated that this share of the stock is worth
    about $35billion now (Pitsilos).
 Apple’s first release was the Apple I (Business Insider).
 In the coming years Apple released the Apple II,
Apple III and the Macintosh in 1984(Business Insider).
 Steve Jobs resigned from Apple in 1985 but would later
    return in 1996 (Business Insider).
Apple History (cont.)
 In 1997, Apple announced that it would join Microsoft with
a $150 million investment that would create Microsoft
Office programs for Apple products (Business Insider).
 In 2001 Apple released the Mac Operating System X as well
as its first retail store (Business Insider).
 Late 2001 was the time that the iPod was released allowing
people to store large amounts of media all in the palm of
your hand (Business Insider). This was revolutionary
technology compared to the mp3 players that came before.
 In the coming years, the iPod has grown from the original
to the Mini, iPod Touch, Shuffle, iPod Classic, Nano,
  iPhone and iPad (Business Insider).
Apple History (cont.)
 iTunes was released in October of 2003 (Stanford).
 In 2005, Jobs announced the Intel-based Mac
computers (Business Insider). These new processors
would replace the buggy predecessors and would be
  instilled in all Apple products.
 Apple Inc. stock is currently the largest publicly traded
corporation in the United States (Business Insider).
Apple Stock is currently at approx $500 per share (CNN).
What is a POS system?
 A system most often used
  in restaurants and hotels
  where a computer is linked
  with a cash register.
 In restaurants they are best
  used to submit orders to
  the kitchen in an efficient
  manor.
 In addition, they can be
  used to accept credit cards,
  record transactions, track
  inventory and manage
  payroll.
Benefits of iPad POS
 Lower start up costs. A standard
          POS costs between $15,000 and
          $20,000 while an iPad tablet
          system costs between $2,000
          and 5,000 (Moxon).
 Highly portable and run off of a
          wireless connection inside the
          restaurant.
 Gets rid of lines at normal POS
          terminals (Moxon).
 Orders will be sent to the
          kitchen directly from the table
          (Moxon). This will help avoid
any errors that are sent to the
          kitchen.
Benefits of iPad POS (cont.)
 Servers will be able to connect
their iPad to a cash drawer as
well as run credit cards directly
  at the table (Moxon).
 Guests will have the choice of
going green where they can have
  their receipt e-mailed to them
instead of having a printed copy
  brought to the table (Moxon).
 Management’s job will also be
  made much easier with the
  ability to manage inventory,
  generate reports and manage
  pay roll from these handheld
  devices (Moxon).
Drawbacks of iPad POS
 Apple iPads are known to be
  highly fragile.
 Risk of theft.
 The wireless internet may
  fail shutting down the
ability for the iPad to work
  effectively (Moxon).
Strengths Opportunities
 Revolutionary technology  iPhone
 Branding and marketing  iPad
 Highly stable operating systems  iPod
 Applications and features  Mac computers
 Loyal customer following  Retail stores
 Rapid growing corporation  Largely unexplored market
 Excellent customer service  New models, features, applications and
 Largest American corporation inventions

Weaknesses Threats
 Expensive  Intense competition
 Different operating system from the  Cheaper substitutes
normal PC  Dependence on a specific supplier
 Few options in products  Manufacturers utilizing Android
 Steve Jobs death operating systems
 Limited editions  Failing economy
Conclusion
 Based on our research, I strongly believe that investing
in Apple iPads would be a highly beneficial choice for
Luigi’s Italiano. It will increase profits, efficiency of
work and will lead to better company morale among
our staff. iPad POS systems have been installed in our
competition’s restaurants and have resulted in success.
In order to stay competitive and continue to grow as a
corporation we should do the same. Apple is a
successful company itself and is growing at a steady
and fast rate so we should invest in their software now.
