BERJAYA SPORTS TOTO BERHAD
- COMMENCEMENT OF NEGOTIATIONS ON BUSINESS COOPERATION
CONTRACT IN RELATION TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMPUTERIZED
LOTTERY SYSTEM IN VIETNAM
The Boards of Directors of Berjaya Corporation Berhad (“BCorporation”)
and Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad (“BToto”) are pleased to announce that
following a bidding process, BCorporation has been selected as the most
suitable party to undertake the investment, procurement, installation of
equipment and operation of a computerized lottery system for the whole
of Vietnam (“Vietnam Lottery Business”) in cooperation with Vietnam
Lottery Company (“Vietlott”) under a Business Cooperation Contract to be
entered into.
The Ministry of Finance of Vietnam in conjunction with Vietlott (a wholly-
owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam) issued a Request for
Proposal on 12 June 2013 to invite proposals for the Vietnam Lottery
Business.
A total of six international companies submitted their proposals to Vietlott.
After a detailed and intensive evaluation of the proposals submitted by the
various bidders, the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and Vietlott have
selected BCorporation’s proposal as the winning bid and have formally
invited BCorporation to enter into negotiations for a Business Cooperation
Contract with Vietlott.
BCorporation will undertake the Vietnam Lottery Business via Berjaya Gia
Thinh Investment Technology Company Limited (“Berjaya GTI”), a company
incorporated in Vietnam. Berjaya GTI is 51% owned by Berjaya Lottery
Vietnam Limited (“BLV”), a company incorporated in Labuan. BLV is in turn
80% owned by BCorporation and 20% owned by BToto.
BCorporation and BToto will make the necessary announcements once the
Business Cooperation Contract has been executed.
