To decorate Easter eggs, small holes are made in empty eggshells to allow the contents to be removed. The wax resist technique is used to apply wax in beads to areas that should remain white after dyeing. Eggs are dyed by dipping in jars of dye and allowed to dry between layers. Finally, the wax is melted off by warming the shell, revealing the decorative pattern underneath.
