Case Study of Anna Brooke
         Beth McCuller
          COUN 621
Client Description

• Anna Brooke
• Female, six years old
• Student in a Mississippi Public School
• First Grade
Purpose of Assessment

• The Gemstone Adventure
   – To identify personality traits
• Career’s for Me Junior
   – Define possible occupational interests
   – To learn about careers
Assessment Procedures & Protocol
• The Gemstone Adventure- “GEMSTONES™, developed by DREAM, Inc. is a tool for
all populations that promotes the understanding of self and others. It identifies six
different learning, teaching and social interactive styles. GEMSTONES™ is a model
based on research from Hippocrates through Carl Jung and correlated to such
respected measures as the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory.”1
• Careers for Me Junior- “The Junior version was designed to expand a child’s
horizon in the world-of-work. It is a bright, colorful 6-panel folder with a picture
for every interest on the assessment. Students circle the pictures which represent
what they like to do. Pictures are counted (up to seven for each job cluster). The
student then circles any career that is of interest to them, whether it is in their
high-cluster or not. A very short and simple “research” panel is provided to begin
the process of learning about specific careers. And, of course, there are fun
activities which combines learning and fun.”2

feelings. This can help the client understand more about herself

Treatment Plans & Recommendations
• According to the personality assessment used, the client can
move from positive to negative characteristics when teachers
and parents allow the following: have time by herself, help her
to make her plans happen, give the client a lot of time to do
things, listen to her ideas and thoughts, don’t make the client do
regular routine things, appreciate that she is one of a kind.
• By assessing career interest it shows that the client is less
interested in math and science subjects. The parents and
teacher of the client can try to make these subjects more
interesting such as doing a family science project or eating a
  pizza to discuss math.
