Trench Warfare Trenches in the Night Problems in the Trenches Trench Attacks Reason for Trenches
Problem in the Trenches ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Trench Attack At Dawn and dusk were when most of the attacks came. They would hit them with artillery and then go over the top and charge them with many men.
Reason for Trenches One main reason they did this for was to cut back on the body counts. Secondly they did this to protect there positions so it would be harder to take over for the enemy.
Night Time in the Trenches At night two things would happen one would be supplies were sent in to the remaining soldiers who would stay on the front line. Secondly they would replace some of the soldiers to give them a break from all of the action.
Causes for world war 1 Militarism Alliances Imperialism Nationalism
Alliances Definition- Forming a partnership with other nations. Central powers- Germany, Australia, Ottoman Empire Allies- Russia, Britain, France, (United states)
Militarism There were two reasons why countries built up there militaries. They was peer pressures and the other one was to protect there colonies. They used a mandatory draft to build up there military. 1. Russia had the largest army. 2. Britain had the largest navy. 3. Germany had the best trained army.
Imperialism European nations competed for colonies. “ Bigger is better.” Areas of conflict- Africa, Bosnia, Alsace, Lorraine.
Nationalism Pan-German- wanted to unite all German speaking people. Pan-Slavic- wanted to unite all Slavic speaking people. Example- Bosnia, 95% spoke the Slavic language, yet they were controlled by a German speaking country, Austria .
