1. First Nuclear Weapon Detonation
Nuclear weapons derived from nuclear fusions and when
the first bomb was dropped on August 6, 1945 and the
second on the 9th, 12000 people were instantly killed and
even more were killed due to radiation in Hiroshima,
Japan. The bomb was called Little Boy and was built
based on uranium. This was during the final days of
WWII and devastated Japanese infrastructure and
economy. Nuclear weapons were not used again after this
incident for military uses.
2. Cold War
The Cold War was a period of
conflicts and tension between the two
superpowers, US and the Soviet
Union (and their respective allies), and
started in 1947. The Cold War
included the space race, espionage,
technological, military, and industrial
development, and proxy wars. The two
countries wanted to avoid direct military
combat, as to avoid escalating into an
all-out nuclear war. There was no direct
combat, but there was a lot of military
build-up and political battles for support
from other countries.
