- Goals are broad, generalized statements about what is to be learned. Think of them as a target to be reached, or "hit."
- Students are notified that circle time is beginning with a transition. (ex. Come over song) Preschoolers sit in chairs, buddies behind them. Child of the day card is held up. When child recognizes their name they come up and lead the pledge of allegiance. A transition (ex. two little hands go clap, clap, clap, etc ) gains the attention of preschoolers. Letter of the day is introduced with an interactive activity. (In this case “C” is for cow and color. Each child goes over to the table and chooses a cow. They are then called up one by one and match their color cow. Colors are repeated & cows are counted.) Make sure there is a conclusion.
- Start with a transition (Ex. Sometimes my hands are at my side). Introduce the book. What should the preschoolers be looking or listening for while the book is being read? Review the book.
- Don’t expect projects to be perfect, they are the work of preschoolers, and we want them to be proud of their work. Use a variety of mediums, present opportunity for creativity, label and date each project, help preschoolers write their name and clean-up.
