This document outlines a project for students to create sculptural masks based on Aesop's Fables. Students will learn about mask traditions in different cultures and how masks relate to those cultures. They will research cultures like African, Renaissance, Surrealist, Asian, and Greek to design their masks. Students will create clay or papier-mache prototypes and use skills like sketching, photography, and video production to convey messages from the fables. The masks will be displayed for a play performance, combining the art project with a drama class.
