Use the quadratic formula to find the real solutions if any, of the equation

        2x − 4x +1 = 0
           2

        ax + bx + c = 0
           2

         b 2 − 4ac = (−4) 2 − 4(2)(1) = 16 − 8 = 8

  b − 4ac > 0 so there are two real solutions
