How does your media product represent
particular social groups?

2. I have represented my target audience through the use of image , language
and colour.
I have represented my target audience as typical 16-24 year olds who have
a genuine interest in music. The dominant image on my front cover shows
the artist to be dressed in modern stylish clothing and this is to represent the
readers who would buy this magazine. Also throughout my magazine, the
artists in the images are dressed in what would be described as
conventionally stylish. The age group suggests that the audience would
predominantly be interested in looking ‘cool’ like their musical idols.
I have also represented them as genuine music fans. All of the features I
have included on the contents page of my magazine are solely based around
the music with the slight exception of the feature on Demi Lovato. I didn’t
want my magazine to be all about gossip to do with the celebrities, more
about their actual music.
The first image on the contents page of Emily Clarkson makes her appear
very innocent due to her facial expressions and the young nature of her
pose. I wanted to steer away from the ‘rocky’ image all other music
magazines give off and attract a more sophisticated young audience.
