What have you learned from your
      audience feedback?
• For my A2 media coursework I produced a teaser
  trailer of the horror genre. The planned target
  audience was both male and female ages 15-30. I
  used methods of showing my audience the trailer
  in ways in which they are used to viewing trailers
  e.g. Facebook, YouTube. The first audience
  feedback we got was asking our friends what they
  thought of our first draft of our trailer. We had
  four friends, two male aged 18 and 24, and two
  females aged 15 and 22, sit in a room and watch
  the first draft, streaming it on YouTube.
• The majority of the comments we receive stated
  that the trailer and plot had the potential to
  produce a scary scenario. However at the stage
  the trailer was at they mentioned it lacked a fast
  paced jumpy scene to bring the piece together.
  We also asked them to view the poster for our
  film which at the time contained no image. From
  the feedback we received we decided the poster
  needed a photo, and then asked the audience
  what type of photo they feel would be most
  effective for the horror genre.
• Once they had decided we went out to get the
  photo, added it into our poster and then asked
  if they thought the poster was now better
  suited for a horror film, to which they agreed.
  From my feedback I’ve learnt that my target
  audience associate horror with the colour red
  and black, this helped design the colour
  scheme for the poster.
• After showing our trailer to a larger group of
  people, for a larger resource of responses, the
  majority actually decided that a slow paced,
  spooky trailer would be more effective and
  resemble the style in which old fashioned
  horrors were filmed like.
• With this in mind we decided to add an effect
  using “Youtube video editing” to make the
  video have a early horror feel to it. The music
  added was also slowly paced and spooky as
  our feedback recommend we did. For tracking
  our progress of our feedback we made pie
  chart which makes it a lot easier to depict
  what the audience want.
• By tallying up the preferred   Preferred type of trailer

  “Facebook” so that we could get a large
  amount of feedback, most people simply liked
  the link for the video but we had a few people
  compliment us on its design.

• What we learnt from our feedback was that
  although people assume horror trailers are to
  be jumpy they can also be spookier when it
  had been coupled with a slow pace and a
  spine chilling soundtrack. And that black and
  red are still the stereotypical connotations to a
  horror.
