Lesson 2 Creating a flash document
Modifying flash document Flash document can be modified using the Document Properties dialog box. In this window you can easily change the stage’s size and color to your specification that is very important in every Flash document.
You can access the Document properties dialog box by doing one of the Following: Click Modify>Document
You can access the Document properties dialog box by doing one of the Following: With arrow tool selected in the Toolbox, notice that the property Inspector returns basic feedback about the document’s properties.
You can access the Document properties dialog box by doing one of the Following: Double-click the Frame Rate box at the bottom of the Timeline.
Here are the options in the Document Properties Window: Dimensions – type in the value for the width and height to set the size of your stage. The minimum size is 1px by 1px,  and the maximum size is 2880px by 2880px.
Match Printer Match Printer- Sets the stage size to the maximum available print area, as determined by the paper size minus any margins associated with it in the Page Setup dialog box.
Match contents Match Content – Sets the stage size to fit all objects, with an equal amount of space on all sides.
Default Default – Sets the stage size to the default of 550px by 400px. The color is white and the frame rate is 12.
Background Color Background Color- sets the new background color of the stage.
Background Color
Frame rate Frame Rate – Determines how many frames per second to play in the timeline.
Ruler Units Ruler Units – sets the dimension units to be used: pixels, inches, points millimeters, or centimeters.

Saving flash document Click the File menu then choose Save As.
Opening Flash Document Click the File menu then choose Open.
Tools Panel
          Drawing lines Line Tool – This tool allows you to create straight lines in any direction from the starting point.
Line tool options/modifiers Stroke color – color of the line Stroke height (0.25-10) –  Thickness of the line Stroke Style – (Solid, dashed,  dotted, ragged, stipple           hatched)
Using the line tool Choose the Line tool in the toolbox. Click anywhere on the stage. Drag the line towards the desired endpoint. Release the mouse.
Examples Draw a line with black stroke color, 5 stroke height and Solid stroke style. Draw a line with black stroke color, 9.75 stroke height and Stipple stroke.
Arrow Tool The arrow tool is the Flash’s selection tool. It is used to select and move an item. To use the Arrow tool, just click it from the Toolbox.
Arrow Tool option/modifier Snap to Objects – used to snap the artwork to another object. This will cause objects to snap to one another when you’re placing the graphics, depending on how close the objects horizontally or vertically.
Pencil tool This tool is used to draw lines and shapes in much the same way that you would use a real pencil to draw.
Pencil tool options/modifiers Straighten- used to draw straight lines and other geometrical shapes. Smooth- this option will smooth out any curve lines. Ink- this choice is for freehand drawing without Flash making any adjustments to the lines.

Pen Tool This tool allows you to define straight lines and smooth curves. In using  the Pen tool, you can create anchor points Anchor points on the line that determine the length of individual line segment.
Using the pen tool Choose the Pen tool. Click on the stage, move the mouse and click successively .  Each new point will connect with the previous point to create a line segment. To create a curved line segment, when clicking the mouse drag the point in the direction you want the curve at. Double-click the last point to finish or Ctrl + Click anywhere away from the path.
   Eraser tool This tool is used to remove drawings, stokes and fills.
Eraser Modes –this is the standard way of erasing objects. It removes strokes and fills. –it erases only fills; strokes are not affected.
Eraser Modes –it erases only strokes ; fills are not affected. –it erases only the currently selected fills and does not affect the strokes.
Eraser Modes –it erases only the fill on which you begin the eraser stroke. Faucet –deletes the stroke segment or filled area. Eraser Shape – sets the shapes and size of the eraser that you are going to use.
