Rio+ is an online platform to crowdsource ideas for the city of Rio, bringing the best ones to life as our prototypes. We want to organize a partnership involving people, companies, government and universities – all sectors of society – to establish the most collaborative and creative city in the world! So far we have received more than 1000 ideas from various types of people, regions and profiles!

2. Rio+ is a project focused on innovative solutions for Rio, bringing together all of its people, companies,
governments and universities to transform this city into the most creative and collaborative in the
world. Join us in this experiment - it is only beginning!
This project consists of a partnership between Benfeitoria and several partners from different sectors
of society. The city hall just adopted the project as an official communication channel between people
and the government.
The two most important features of this project are:
The process is as simple as filling out a
short form. People don’t need to know
how to implement it, how much will cost,
or any technical information. We worry
about those details!
We don’t want to get good ideas and put
them away in a drawer, never to be looked
at again. We will put these ideas to work
and bring them to life as real prototypes
around the city.

3. PHASE1
ALL OF RIO’S PEOPLE ARE INVITED TO SEND IN IDEAS TO MAKE THE CITY BETTER. WE ARE LOOKING FOR IDEAS THAT
CHANGE BEHAVIOR OR IMPROVE THE EXPERIENCE OF THE PEOPLE IN OUR CITY. THERE ARE 12 DIFFERENT THEMES, AND
EACH IDEA CAN FIT UP TO 3 OF THEM. THE BEST IDEAS IN EACH THEME WILL BE CHOSEN BY SPECIALISTS ON THE SUBJECT.
PHASE2
THE PRODUCERS OF RIO+ WILL STUDY HOW TO IMPLEMENT EACH OF THE CHOSEN IDEAS, TRANSFORMING THEM INTO
PROJECTS THAT COULD HAVE A REAL IMPACT ON CHANGING THE CITY. WE WILL TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ALL
THE HARD WORK TO FIND OUT HOW TO DO IT, HOW MUCH IT COSTS, HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE, WHO CAN HELP ETC.
There are 5 different phases of the process from gathering people’s ideas in the beginning, all the way to
their implementation and measurement of the real impact in the city. Each phase has a very specific role in
the process and activates different social actions to develop the project.

4. PHASE4
THE SELECTED PROJECTS FOR EACH THEME WILL BE IMPLEMENTED AS PROTOTYPES CREATED BY PARTNERS AND
SPONSORED BY THE CITY HALL AND COMPANIES. OTHER PROJECTS CAN THEN BECOME CROWDFUNDING
CAMPAIGNS WITHIN BENFEITORIA.
PHASE3
FGV, A MAJOR UNIVERSITY IN BRAZIL WILL MEASURE THE IMPACT OF THE PROJECTS IN THE CITY AND STUDY THEIR
SCALABILITY. THEIR INSIGHTS WILL BE PUBLISHED WITH A DETAILED REPORT SENT TO THE MAYOR. PRIZES WILL BE GIVEN
TO THE PEOPLE WHO SENT THE BEST IDEAS, TO STIMULATE PARTICIPATION.
PHASE5
THE PROJECTS WILL BE MADE PUBLIC SO PEOPLE CAN VOTE TO DECIDE WHICH ONES ARE MORE RELEVANT TO RIO.
IT ONLY MATTERS TO THE CITY IF IT MATTERS TO THE CITIZENS, SO WE WILL PROMOTE ONLINE VOTING TO CHOOSE
WHICH PROJECTS WILL COME TO LIFE.
