Multimission Radio Direction Finder
Connector of DF antenna
Goals of the project:
Development of a ligthweight, man portable, radio direction
finder equipment (RDF) which is able to determine the angle of
arrival (AOA) of communication radio signals in VHF/UHF band.

In the next step GPS positioning and electronic
compass heading elements were integrated into the
dipole array based antenna head
First prototype
system:
integrated DF
receiver and
monopol based
4 element DF
antenna array
on a tripod.
Field measurements were carried out for testing and
building the calibration database
New generation of RDF receiver based on advanced digital signal processing technology
Significant enhancements are signal
processing and user interface
Instead of alphanumeric LCD and
push buttons graphical LCD display
and touch screen is used as MMI in
this generation of RDF receiver.
New signal processing is able to
handle 8 element antenna heads
shown in pictures on the right.
They are for VHF and UHF
frequency bands.
Basic technical parameters:
20-300MHz / 300-1200MHz (VHF/UHF) frequency range
Full-function scanning and monitoring receiver
Built-in Direction-Finding (DF) capability
Full 360-degree direction coverage
Automatic North calibration using integrated electronic compass
Built-in GPS receiver for positioning and time synchronization
