Ms. Brenda Lee leads skills training nonprofit
1. Ms. Brenda Lee will be the primary instructor for the classes. As the organization and
class sizes grow, Ms. Lee will also train volunteers to conduct the classes. For more
than four years, Ms. Lee has experience as a trainer for displaced workers, food stamp
and TANF recipients. Ms. Lee has also served four six years as a substitute teacher for
Gwinnett Public Schools. Ms. Lee has worked as an adjunct instructor for Athens
Technical College, Gwinnett Technical College and City University of New York for over
10 years. Ms. Lee’s experience also includes vocational trainer, office manager,
college recruiter and administrative assistant. Ms. Lee holds the following degrees:
Associate Degree – Liberal Arts Nassau Community College
Bachelor of Science Degree - Behavioral Science New York Institute of Technology
Master’s of Science Degree – Education New York Institute of
Technology
In all of her years of teaching and training, Ms. Brenda Lee held the vision on one day
offering training to individuals who are considered disenfranchised, overlooked, under
educated and dislocated, with the hope of providing for them skills training that will
not just get them employed, but will provide a career. Medical terminology and
transcription is a vital service in our community and can lead to a viable career. But
the missing link with having a career lies in the ability to handle the monies one will
earn throughout a life time. Truly wisdom lies in now how much money an individual
makes, but rather, how much an individual saves or uses wisely. Therefore, Ms. Lee
also plans to offer the basics of how to management money, i.e., how to create a
family budget, the purpose of a shopping list, saving, investing, and other life skills
that will help create and empower successful individuals.
Mental Health Resources - Ms. Brenda Lee has a son who is mentally challenged, and
one of the services she wishes to offer (for no fee) is to provide to parent(s) of
mentally challenged children the “where to find” resources that are so sorely needed
in that community. There are so many resources she has found during her years of
searching for assistance for her son that she feels compelled to pass on the
information. This information will eventually be assembled into a brochure type
document and distributed to anyone who is interested in possessing the information.
Ms. Lee also hopes to host workshops providing information to the families,
community and other interested persons making them aware of the needs of the
mentally challenged. These workshops might also include assistance in filling out
government forms that will eventually lead to the families/child(ren) receiving aid or
assistance. Occasionally, there might be guest speakers from the Georgia Department
of Human Resources (DHR) offering information on mental health, or other non-profit
organizations like Justice for People with Mental Illness in Georgia.
2. Senior Programs – the response above is applicable for senior services –during the
illness of Ms. Lee’s mother, Ms. Lee found it exhaustive attempting to find services for
her mother. She will eventually compile a list of “helpful resources” to other non-
profit organizations that will provide assistance to families who are caring for their
elderly parent(s). As well, Ms. Lee might conduct workshops to inform individuals in
community or general public who are interested is obtaining information on senior
care. At sometime there might be guest speakers from organizations like the Georgia
Department of Human Resources, Division of Aging Services to provide information.
Insurance Resources – These are more resources then programs. Part of the training
for economic empowerment will include the importance of securing and maintaining
health and dental insurance for the individuals and/or their children. Training
participates how to select the best program for themselves and their children is part
of the complete training process. Ms. Lee (or a trained volunteer) will conduct these
trainings, and there will not be any individual or agency represented at these training
or workshops or any other time. There will not be the opportunity for anyone to
present or distributed to the participants of Let’s Empower Everyone, Inc. any
literature or information that will inure to the financial or other benefit of anyone or
agency.
Burial Resources – This resource is intended to advise interested parties of what
monies they can expect from the government for burial of a loved one. Also to advise
survivors of veterans that veterans are entitled to free burial and to assist the family
with the application if necessary.
Let’s Empower Everyone, Inc. is an emerging non-profit. Currently, we are not renting
or purchasing a location. It is our strategic plan to procure community support for our
programs by offering workshops and lectures at public libraries throughout our focus
