I took 18 classes and completed 54
credits in computer and web design
classes – studied various software,
Such as PowerPoint and
DreamWeaver when attending
Bossier Parish Community College.

After a suggestion from a friend

I launched my freelance career
by signing up at oDesk.com

I passed the oDesk Readiness
Test with the greatest of ease.

I began applying for and working
writing, research, and editing jobs.
I successfully found many clients
who were willing to hire me.

I learned the ropes and picked up
many, many new writing skills.
But, even after 20 contracts, 845
recorded hours + 200 unrecorded
hours of work, and a 4.92 Star
Rating, I found that I was
Out growing my place at odesk and
needed something more.

I had learned a lot and acquired new skills
(including web content, SEO, marketing), but

The time came to move on

To learn even more and do other things

I successfully completed Virtual
Assistance, SEO, and Data Entry
contracts, but
The pay was often still
lower than what I wanted

Also

I wanted to use
my creativity

This is what I find
most enjoyable

So, when I had seen all
that oDesk had to offer,
I decided to expand my horizons
I took a look at Elance and
began trying them out too

And its a good thing too

As it turns out, my experience
while working contracts there

was better in several ways

Better pay, bigger
projects, quality clients

If I have not mentioned it already,

I like playing
MMORPGs
(Massively Multiplayer
Online Role-playing Games)

In fact, it’s an understatement to say

That I was an avid player of WoW

(World of Warcraft)

I soon discovered a client

that would actually pay me

for playing that game…

On how to play various
aspects of the game.

I laid out a plan and put my
Camtasia Studio v7
software to use
And successfully completed
the contract 6 days ahead of
schedule

And got an excellent review /
feedback / rating from my client

Not only did I like what I was doing,

But I was getting paid $500 for doing it.

From then on, it was the only thing I
wanted to do as a professional.
Without an interesting video project
to work on, my very life is
incomplete!

After all, its creative and interesting work.

I started really learning

and got my hands on
some good software

I continued my research

By the way, I am in love with Adobe now

Then, when I found out how complicated

My newly found software was

I took on the next task:
I got my hands on some good
learning materials and completed
several training courses.

As of now, I like to seek out

Communities of creative people

And make myself a part of them.

Forums, various Facebook Adobe
Fan Pages etc.

I currently work with the following software

Right now, I am expanding beyond
both Elance and oDesk. I still look
to them for good
opportunities, but now I also do
self promotion in effort to build
relationships and find better
contracts.
