Dieting "Secrets"
I guess The Secret is out and Yes. It's true! You can create anything you want simply by choosing
your thoughts accordingly. So why not choose thoughts of being thin? Now I don't mean to say
this is easy, however with practice and repetition it will become easier in time. Think "law of
attraction"... what you think about, you bring about. We are all creatures of habit. We want to be
where we feel safe and comfortable, which is exactly how we get stuck. So the hard part is getting
out of that comfort zone and get to work on controlling your thoughts. Most people let their
thoughts control them and are not even aware of that!
So, how do you control your thoughts? There are several ways to do this and several books to tell
you how. Obviously, I can't list them all for you, but my favorite is by playing a perfectly legitimate
trick on your subconscious mind by telling it your desires as if they are already fact!
Begin by making a list of positive affirmations and recite them several times a day outloud
(especially in the morning and right before bedtime). This really works as it changes your thought
patterns. Your subconscious will reject them at first because it is programmed by the past and
validates your past as truth. That is why you must keep repeating them. It helps to make your
affirmations seem real. For example, if you say I am a size six, and really you wear a size 12, your
subconscious will know this is false and do nothing. However, if you use the words I choose before
the statement, your mind will except this as fact and begin working to make it so. Say these words
with authority, as truth. You are stating facts here! (They soon will be anyway) If you have trouble
believing this, think how many times you said Im getting fat, or I never seem to lose weight. Did
any of those statements come true? Then I guess it works. Now you just need to reverse this
vicious cycle.
Another good idea is to have pictures of yourself as the weight you wish to be all around the
house. Place your face over a Victoria Secret's model if you want. Our mind always thinks in
pictures. So this is another trick. If your mind is picturing you thin, that is what you will be! You're
playing tricks on your subconscious mind while convincing your conscious mind that you are ready
to lose weight!
I went on a diet once back in high school and I have never forgotten. There was no need, but try
telling a teenage girl that, especially me! I guess that's what my friends were doing so I convinced
myself I needed to do that too. Can't allow them to be skinny without me? So I starved myself and
tried running, exercising, etc. Not only was I miserable... I actually gained weight! I would check
that bathroom scale every morning and the numbers kept going up. I figured it was broken, but my
clothes kept getting smaller too. It was freaking me out and I got so depressed until finally... I quit!
I gave up the "diet" and the weight just disappeared. Now, I know why that happened. I stopped
thinking about it and went back to enjoying life. My weight wasn't a problem as long as I didn't
make it one.
2. So my secret to dieting is to NOT diet. Diet is just another four letter word as far as I'm concerned.
That word has been used to describe torture for years! When you think of dieting, you feel as if
you are about to be punished. There's no need for this... you don't have to do it. You are perfect
and need no improvement and most importantly, you are extremely grateful for your body. Don't
use that word and get rid of your scale if you have one. What do you need that for? There is no
rule that says you must place a scale in your home. Plus, there is no advantage to knowing exactly
how much you weigh. And by all means... don't tell your friends or family that you are on a diet.
They mean well, but then you are using the "D" word and let's face it... They don't need to know
everything. If someone questions your new eating habits, just tell them you simply decided to start
eating healthier. You want to take better care of yourself. Everyone will accept and be happy about
that! You want to avoid thinking about dieting so it's best to not talk about it.
Practice meditation and really go inside your body while feeling each limb, muscle and breathe
that you take. Think of all the good your body does for you and you will want to reward yourself
with healthy, delicious foods. You want to eat healthy foods because you love your body! This is
not a chore...fruits, vegetables, seafood, pasta, bread; it's all good for you when taken in
moderation. I suggest eating lots of little snacks. This way you are always satisfied, and it keeps
your metabolism running. Therefore, it won't slow down, and you won't have to restart it. Think of a
car engine. The more it gets used, the better it works!
Now the shift is in place. Instead of thinking that dieting is a chore and you have to eat salads and
other healthy foods you can shift towards knowing that healthy foods are the better choice all
around. There are so many ways to spruce up those greens that they really are a treat to eat! I
always think about nutrition and find recipes online for free that make your mouth water! I dont
count calories either. I just eat delicious, nutritious foods whenever I want to. Although I do splurge
from time to time with sweets. No nutritional value at all, but they taste good and I like them.
So now you know and appreciate that you already have the most perfect body for you. You are
eating healthy foods, meditating and stating your affirmations at least twice daily. Youre feeling
good about yourself and this is easier than you thought. You love the way you look and feel and
want to do more for yourself. But what? Oh yeah. I know...
Exercise! You already know about exercise, Im sure. This is very important to every human being.
I can't state the importance of this enough. Did you know it is also the best defense against
depression? It is nearly impossible to feel depressed when you exercise on a regular basis. It will
help you sleep better too! Depression will keep you from exercising, but this is where you have to
take charge and just do it! Know that this feeling cant last once you get started and then keep
going.
So get plenty of exercise! The more, the better, the key to this is... "Have FUN with it!" Only do
what you like to do anyway. Go for a walk, join a gym, there you can swim, use special
equipments, meet people, etc. Take classes in karate, yoga, and dance? The list just goes on and
on. Maybe play tennis. It's great if you can have a friend do this with you, if not it will open you up
to meeting more people who share in these activities. Therefore, make new friends. You want to
spend at least 30 minutes a day (okay three times a week) doing anything that speeds up your
pulse and heart rate. I get a workout just cleaning the house. Of course I like to dance and sing
while doing it. It's more fun!
3. This brings me to the last part of this great secret. Remain happy by keeping good thoughts, and
keeping busy with activities you enjoy doing. By keeping active you are bound to eat less anyway,
and those happy thoughts will only create more of them. "That's the law of attraction." Emotions
blended with our thoughts helps to manifest them quicker. Love is the most powerful emotion of
all. Ever notice when someone falls in love for the first time, they immediately begin to lose
weight? Faith is another strong one. Again, thoughts mixed with emotions work best.
I realize what Im saying is a bit controversial, so I want to make sure we are clear. After all, "The
Secret" barely touches on this subject and they still received a lot of heat for it. To be honest, I'm a
little apprehensive of whether or not I will submit this article. Then again, I would like to think that...
"If I can help just one person it will be worth it!"
So here it is in brief:
1) Always think of yourself as the perfect weight. Picture this in your mind and throughout your
home.
2) Eat a well balanced diet. Fruits, vegetables, pastas, breads, cheese, etc.
3) Dont eat anything that you have been instructed not to. Examples, if youre allergic to nuts, dont
eat nuts.
4) Eat everything in moderation. One donut is fine; you don't need to eat the whole box! But do try
to have lots of healthy snacks too!
5) Get plenty of exercise! Have fun with it though, only do things you like to do anyway.
6) Be happy! Thoughts mixed with good feelings will manifest quicker.
