In Rome there are two main types of public transport: the underground and buses. The underground has two lines - Line A and B - totaling 36.5 km and 48 stations. Buses are operated by ATAC and cover 2000 km of roads with over 2700 buses. Public transport management is shared between ATAC and Met.Ro. Rome also has high private vehicle ownership and suffers from traffic and air pollution issues. The city is encouraging more sustainable mobility through expanding bike paths and a limited traffic zone.
