TajMahalIn AD 1628, Khurram became king after a bloody battle of succession: he took the name Shahjahan or “King of the World” and showered his beloved begum with the highest titles. She became MumtazMahal, the exalted of the palace and Mumtaz-ul-Zamani, the exalted of the Age. But MumtazMahal was not destined to be queen for long. In 1631, Shahjahan went on an expedition to the south and, as always, MumtazMahal accompanied him. But she died in childbirth at Burhanpur. She had borne Shahjahan fourteen children, of whom four sons and three daughters survived. When MumtazMahal died, she was just 39 years old. Shahjahan was inconsolable and contemporary chronicles tell of the royal court mourning for two years. there was no music, no feasting, and no celebration of any kind.Shahjahan, who was a passionate builder, now decided to erect a memorial to his queen in pristine marble that the world would never forget. The site selected for the tomb was a garden by the Yamuna river, unshadowed by any other structure. The garden had been laid by Raja Man Singh of Amber and now belonged to his grndson, Raja Jai Singh. By a royal firman, Shahjahan gave Jai Singh four havelis in exchange for the garden. The site was also chosen because it was located on a bend in the river, and so could be seen from Shahjahan’s personal palace in Agra Fort, further upstream.Construction Of The Mausoleum - TajMahalWork on the mausoleum began in 1631 and 20,000 workers laboured for 22 years to build it. The most skilled architects, inlay craftsmen, calligraphers, stone-carvers and masons came from all across Indian and lands as distant as Persia and Turkey. The master mason was from Baghdab, an expert in building the double dome from Persia, and an inlay specialist from Delhi. After an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees (approx US $68000), TajMahal was finally completed in the year 1653.Great Wall of ChinaGreat Wall of China During the Warring States Period from the 5th century BC to 221 BC, the states of Qi, Yan and Zhao all constructed extensive fortifications to defend their own borders. Built to withstand the attack of small arms such as swords and spears, these walls were made mostly by stamping earth and gravel between board frames. Qin Shi Huang conquered all opposing states and unified China in 221 BC, establishing the Qin Dynasty. Intending to impose centralized rule and prevent the resurgence of feudal lords, he ordered the destruction of the wall sections that divided his empire along the former state borders. To protect the empire against intrusions by the Xiongnu people from the north, he ordered the building of a new wall to connect the remaining fortifications along the empire's new northern frontier. Transporting the large quantity of materials required for construction was difficult, so builders always tried to use local resources. Stones from the mountains were used over mountain ranges, while rammed earth was used for construction in the plains. There are no surviving historical records indicating the exact length and course of the Qin Dynasty walls. The Great Wall concept was revived again during the Ming Dynasty following the Ming army's defeat by the Oirats in the Battle of Tumu in 1449. Towards the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall helped defend the empire against the Manchu invasions that began around 1600. Under the military command of Yuan Chonghuan, the Ming army held off the Manchus at the heavily fortified Shanhaiguan pass, preventing the Manchus from entering the Chinese heartland. The Manchus were finally able to cross the Great Wall in 1644, when the gates at Shanhaiguan were opened by Wu Sangui, a Ming border general who disliked the activities of rulers of the Shun Dynasty. The Manchus quickly seized Beijing, and defeated the newly founded Shun Dynasty and remaining Ming resistance, to establish the Qing Dynasty.
Something with a beginning, middle and end.Something that has a clear objective and somebody responsible for it.Something that can be measured and achieved
Preparing a plan for a project means defining and co-ordinating the tasks and activities in a project, preparing work schedules, allocating resources and budget costs to the work sections, and producing the graphical and tabular reports to enable the management to control and complete the project successfully.

According to PMI’s PMForum dated April 2008 : India has the third largest PMI membership – after the United States and Canada - with seven chapters and over 11,000 PMI members. Most of these are in the IT sector.
The Office will also enable PMI to foster and build on its service and delivery capability, generate awareness of and demand for the exacting requirements of project management principles and support business and governments in India to better apply and understand global knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to ensure projects in India are completed on time and within cost.Commenting on the inauguration, Gregory Balestrero, Chief Executive Officer, PMI who was in India for the inauguration said, “Trained and credentialed project managers can help India unlock its obvious potential as they bring projects in on time and within budget and make project management indispensable for predictable and positive business results that create value for an organization and its stakeholders. Mature project management practices close the gap between strategy and results. As India globalizes and is on an ambitious growth trajectory, with rapid developments taking place in both the private and public sector, India needs project management professionals who know how to compress schedules to meet the urgent needs of a developing economy. A key to this is utilizing standardized professional project management practices to build capacity and capabilities to achieve breakthrough results.”
