  1. Visit Tuscany sbarca su Foursquare: il branded page per il turismo in Toscana. Abbiamo cercato di creare dei tips divertenti che si leggono anche direttamente online, sulla pagina foursquare, suggerendo cosi’ un’itinerario.
  2. I tips, scritti dal social media team, possano essere divertenti (le spiaggie bianche – portate la crema solare) o pratici (come arrivare alla torre di pisa dalla stazione).
  3. Un po’ di storia: Chicago e’ la prima citta’ a fare un’accordo con foursquare con un branded page e 3 badges a Feb. 2010 (quindi solo 8 mesi fa!). Nota bene: il brand page non costa niente, i badges invece si.
  4. Visit PA non e’ il successivo ma e’ il mio preferito branded page; mi piace la grafica del header che richiama i custom badges che hanno creato, e mi piacciono i tips spesso divertenti come questo del Liberty Bell che dice non si suona piu’ perche’ ha una crepa. Il primo DMO in Europa e’ Yorkshire (il 1 Settembre 2010) e ci hanno battuto per un pelo! Penso di poter dire al 90% (e lo confermero con quelli di 4sq per sicurezza) che la Toscana e’ il primo DMO in Italia con un brand page.
  5. Ma foursquare e’ veramente utile per il turismo? Chi va a chicago solo per questo badge che attesta che tu hai mangiato 3 wurstel ai “hot dog stands” della citta’? Piuttosto l’app ci aiuta a scoprire le zone meno conosciute della citta, ma non porta turismo.
  6. E in Italia? Dove il mercato non e’ ancora saturo e foursquare e’ solo nella sua infanzia, sara’ utile 4sq per il turismo? Per il momento l’Italiano con un smartphone (il 28% secondo un recente studio Neilsson) puo’ fare checkin e scoprire la propria citta’, regione, paese senza particolare costi. Ma il turista straniera no, grazie ai “roaming fees” dei cellulari. Per cui per far che 4sq raggiungi il suo massimo potenziale nelle citta’ italiane, ci serve il wifi aperto; sta quindi al governo decidere se potremo sfruttare al massimo 4sq per il destination marketing in Italia.
