- Created in the 1990s, WML wireless markuplangugageSome features of WML 1.x are specific to wireless devices. For example, WML 1.x provides a way for developers to program the softkeys of mobile phones. This feature is not supported in HTML since computers do not have any softkeys.WML supports client-side scripting. The scripting language supported is called WMLScript. - According to a study by ComScore, in 2010 over 45.5 million people in the United States owned smartphones and it is the fastest growing segment of the mobile phone market, which comprised 234 million subscribers in the United States.
- Nokia is stilla major mobile device maker, that uses Symbian for its smartphones.According to Gartner: there has been over >80 M Symbian devices sold in 2009, most of them being Nokia devices.
