First of all, we thank the organisation comitee, especially Myrjam and Anton, to give us the opportunity to share our project with all of you today, this project is thus dedicated to children with JIA.
SONIA
So, what is the genesis of this project ?
Actually, it’s the meeting between two persons, two universes of the adult rheumatology, but with a particular sensibility for Therapeutic Patient Education and pediatric rheumatology. Jean-David by specific degree and professionnal practice, me because of the ANDAR president, concerned by JIA from 54 (fifty four) years.
After hours of discussions, we decided to do something in an area with low financial investment.
As you know, low investment (« I mean by pharmaceutical industry ») is the right expression ! Find support was a real fight = nobody wanted invest huge amount for a limited population of patients… And first costings gave us headaches, with quotes around one fifty hundred and thousand euros or more !
After a discouragment period, thinking nothing would be possible, we had the chance to have another beautiful meet : Damien and Marc-Antoine, the game agency, they accepted to work for 40 000 (fourty thousand) euros ! and the only firm who accepted to help us : Abbvie.
SONIA
I’ve always forgiven those who offended me… But I’ve got the names!

Our method of working was based on ADDIE (Analysis Design Development Implementation Evaluation) model, a pedagogical engineering
model :
First, there is an analyse of the situation, it means caracteristics and needs of the population concerned, the definition of the goals, the analysis of difficulties, the support avalaible.
Second, the Design of the scenari, the content, with a real synopsis (scope statement) for the game agency.
Third, the developpement of this content, the audio or video sequences
Implantation: here we are !
And the Evaluation.
But as you have understood, those phases aren’t following a line, there are many go and go back (returns) from one to another phase to adapt, rectify or manage previously decisions.

Now, the context which encouraged us to develop a « serious game », a way to use learning by playing.
Various conditions have converged, with no hierarchical order:
-The development of the TPE,
-The prevalence which is significative and the attractivity and easy using of numeric media for children
-The arrival of biological therapies that revolutionized the care of patients but also means new skills (security ...) to patients.
-The impact of this disease that can be important in all aspects of young patients' lives ....
-Finally, the rapid development, the democratization of e-health and the challenge to develop an innovative project
This is indeed the first Serious Game dedicated to all children with JIA

What were the human forces?
First, the steering committee that included:
- The ANDAR, patients association who played a role in logistics, project monitoring at every stage
- A pediatric rheumatologist for the scientific content linked with the association
- And obviously agency specializing in video games development and arts / games proposals
But above all, kids! which has been mobilized through a close association, Kourir. Special thanks to the president William Fahy.

The steering committee decided all directions.

A devoted work of all the actors who have spent nights and w-ends to produce a high quality graphic game with a limited budget!
A process of sharing and collaboration between specialties that sometimes oppose their opinions and minds
(Creativity of the designer, the realism of the developer, the desire to transmit of the scientist, the vision of children and their needs by the patient organisation)
An influence on each other to achieve a coherent, comprehensive result which is complete without being exhaustive nor boring!

A famous french graffiti artist (Nasty) drew the logo and a sentence on a wall in the game « Knowledge is Power »

Use a language adapted to child is a difficult work. The challenge is to switch from a technical language to a language understable for a child without losing the meaning
A test has been done with teenagers and children, siblings and parents: a great and very emotional moment to see the game between young hands !

To our knowledge, it’s the first serious game…...
You can imagine that the course to achieve this realisation was very difficult but very interesting with the collaboration witth new professionals
It is work without end but we hope an availability in november
Our ambition is to permit an international diffusion and it coud be possible by the patient organization if you agree and.....share it for free !
We want to give you the game to use it in your country with your logo, to permit all children to use it.
The idea is to translate the version in your own language. At his point, two versions exist: french and english
