Ann Maree worked as both a bartender and floor staff for the Garden of Unearthly
Delights during both 2012 and 2013 Fringe Festivals. I am the general Bar Manager
for the Garden of Unearthly Delights and employed Ann Maree in 2012 based on a
co-workers recommendation and subsequently asked her to return for this yearʼs
season. The Garden of Unearthly Delights is a five week long inner city festival that
features a range of live performance entertainment from all over the world. It
encompasses a large public park in the centre of Adelaide city and hosts around
25,000 people per day. Approximately 160 people are employed to staff the multiple
bars and maintain the cleanliness of the ground during opening hours. The festival
producers maintain a ʻfamilyʼ style approach to employment: as opposed to festival
workers typically being anonymous, the Garden requires a very particular type of
person to work the festival. Ann Maree was employed for this reason and has proved
to be a very valuable part of the family for both the 2012 and 2013 seasonsʼ.
Ann Maree is a very reliable worker with a professional, mature and consistent work
ethic. Predominantly working as a bartender, she proved to be one of the most
effective and adaptable staff this season, working both days and nights. Her reliability
and enthusiasm reflects a confident person who is able to work fast and efficiently in
