Inigo Jones was an influential British architect and designer in the early 1600s. He was responsible for staging over 500 theatrical performances between 1605 and 1640, collaborating frequently with playwright Ben Jonson. Over 450 of Jones's drawings for scenery and costumes survive from this period. He was also the first significant British architect of the modern period, introducing Italian Renaissance styles of architecture to England.
