Operant- Reward and punishment based learning

John B. Watson: 1878 – 1958
Started college at age of 16

1913- Delivered most famous lecture on Behaviorism

Firm believer that practice strengthens learning

reinforcement

I don’t think teaching should be as impersonal as
behaviorism suggests
Has potential to remove student individuality
Can make students expect to be consistently rewarded
even when doing what is expected
