Question 4
1. Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
I have looked at several film review magazines in order to decide which would be most likely to carry
reviews and adverts on our film. Most magazines I looked at focus mainly on big blockbuster films
and well-known actors. For example, Empire and Total Film magazines are entirely focused on the
large box office films. Famous actors and actresses are featured on the front of them in order to
attract a large audience. If a magazine was to carry our reviews and adverts for our film, I think IFQ
(independent film quarterly) would be an appropriate choice. This particular magazine focuses
mainly on independent films and upcoming film makers. They also focus on film festivals. As our film
is independent and we have a low budget, we would use film festivals as a way to distribute our film.
IFQ would be likely to take notice of our film if it were to be shown at a film festival.IFQ also
interviews independent film makers, making them better known. This is also a good way to promote
our film to a wider audience. IFQ also host their own film festival which our film could also be
promoted through, giving it more recognition. Although IFQ includes independent films in their
magazine, well known films and actors are also featured. I think this magazine would also attract the
right audience to our film as those who are interested in independent films and upcoming film
makers would be read IFQ magazine.
FILM REVIEW “FORGOTTEN”
Founded through our own film festival, Forgotten is one of the most talked about films right now.
Similar films have been made, but nothing quite like this. In the beginning, the film may remind you
of the “Bourne” trilogy and before many (including myself) watched it; it was expected to be just
another mediocre film. However, by challenging typical thriller conventions, the film makers have
created something truly amazing. Firstly, the main character herself is not what you would expect
from a thriller. For one, she is a woman. This in itself is not your normal find in a psychological
thriller. Although this is not sought to be a big deal in the beginning as her character is shown as
weak and flawed, as many female characters are. Her character develops as we find out more and
more about her past making the female character stronger and tougher throughout the film. This
completely changes the dynamic of the story line, creating something unique. The many enigmas set
up from the very beginning of the film intrigue the audience and captivate their attention. This lasts
throughout the entire film, until you are completely emerged in the action and twisted story line. A
great thriller must always have an unexpected twist within the narrative, shocking the audience.

2. Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
Forgotten certainly has this. I was not once bored throughout the film and would definitely watch it
again.
