Feedback on the Puzzle
You recently completed a Puzzle communications analysis. The purpose of the
analysis is to give you a better understanding of how you typically react to different
circumstances in your surroundings.

Strengths and limitations
All combinations of behaviour factors are associated with characteristics that can be described
as strengths, as well as aspects that my represent limitations. What would you say are your
most prominent strengths?

Being good at something often means being less good at its opposite. For example, if we
prefer to make quick decisions based on a minimum of facts, we are probably not so good at
listening to others and considering the possible risks of a particular decision. What would you
say are your most prominent limitations?

Given your strengths and limitations, are there things you might need to think about in order
to be more effective? What might they be?

Motivation
What motivates one behaviour style is often not at all motivating for another. What makes you
feel motivated?

What makes you lose your motivation?

Adapted behaviour
Your adapted behaviour reflects how you think you have to behave to fit in with your current
work situation. You may find you need to increase or decrease the colours in relation to
                                   your basic behaviour.

What does it meanwhen a colour
increases or decreases in your adapted
behaviour
• If Red increases, it means you feel that your work situation or professional role demands
that you be more independent and self-driven than you are usually comfortable being.
This adaptation is often difficult to maintain over time and may result in a stress reaction.

• If Red decreases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that
you be more self-effacing and compliant than you usually are. Often this is aconsequence
of having to cooperate with someone who is more dominant than you. This adaptationis
often difficult to maintain in the long run, and you will probably find some outlet for
     more independent behaviour.

• If Yellow increases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands
a more self-assured and outgoing attitude than you usually present. If you receive a
favourable response to this adaptation, the attitude may eventually become part of your
     basic behaviour.

• If Yellow decreases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands
that your exhibit a more structured and organized approach to your duties than you
usually do. If your basic behaviour is very outgoing and sociable, it may be difficult for
you to maintain this adaptation over a long period.

• If Green increases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands
that you present a more secure and tolerant attitude. Depending on the circumstances, it
can also mean you feel you need to show a more friendly and open attitude.

• If Green decreases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands
that you be more independent and work faster. This adaptation often stays with you for
some time and can even become part of your basic behaviour.

• If Blue increases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that
you focus more on facts and details than you usually do. As long as you maintain this
adaptation, you will be more attentive to the rules in effect and less self-confidant.

• If Blue decreases, it means you feel your work situationor professional role demands that
you be more independent that you usually are. As long as you maintain this adaptation,
you will be less observant of the rules in effect and demonstrate more clearly your ability
     to work independently.

How can you develop in your work
situation and/or professional role?
Based on the report, can you think of ways to be more effective in your work and in your
communication with other people? You might want to consider questions such as: What kind
of support do you need from the people around you? What can you do by yourself? Is there
some way in which your supervisor can help you? Try to make a realistic plan of action for
your ongoing development.

  • 4. Feedback on the Puzzle You recently completed a Puzzle communications analysis. The purpose of the analysis is to give you a better understanding of how you typically react to different circumstances in your surroundings. Through knowing yourself you can improve The report describes your basic behav- your way of communicating and interacting iour and your adapted behaviour. The basic with others. “Surroundings” refers here behaviour reflects your way of relating to to everything outside you – other people, your surroundings when you feel secure and events, circumstances and demands in your relaxed. • 6. Strengths and limitations All combinations of behaviour factors are associated with characteristics that can be described as strengths, as well as aspects that my represent limitations. What would you say are your most prominent strengths? © Copyright Ensize www.ensize.com 6
  • 7. Being good at something often means being less good at its opposite. For example, if we prefer to make quick decisions based on a minimum of facts, we are probably not so good at listening to others and considering the possible risks of a particular decision. What would you say are your most prominent limitations? Given your strengths and limitations, are there things you might need to think about in order to be more effective? What might they be? © Copyright Ensize www.ensize.com 7
  • 8. Motivation What motivates one behaviour style is often not at all motivating for another. What makes you feel motivated? What makes you lose your motivation? © Copyright Ensize www.ensize.com 8
  • 9. Adapted behaviour Your adapted behaviour reflects how you think you have to behave to fit in with your current work situation. You may find you need to increase or decrease the colours in relation to your basic behaviour. 3. © Copyright Ensize www.ensize.com 9
  • 10. What does it meanwhen a colour increases or decreases in your adapted behaviour • If Red increases, it means you feel that your work situation or professional role demands that you be more independent and self-driven than you are usually comfortable being. This adaptation is often difficult to maintain over time and may result in a stress reaction. • If Red decreases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that you be more self-effacing and compliant than you usually are. Often this is aconsequence of having to cooperate with someone who is more dominant than you. This adaptationis often difficult to maintain in the long run, and you will probably find some outlet for more independent behaviour. • If Yellow increases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands a more self-assured and outgoing attitude than you usually present. If you receive a favourable response to this adaptation, the attitude may eventually become part of your basic behaviour. • If Yellow decreases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that your exhibit a more structured and organized approach to your duties than you usually do. If your basic behaviour is very outgoing and sociable, it may be difficult for you to maintain this adaptation over a long period. • If Green increases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that you present a more secure and tolerant attitude. Depending on the circumstances, it can also mean you feel you need to show a more friendly and open attitude. • If Green decreases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that you be more independent and work faster. This adaptation often stays with you for some time and can even become part of your basic behaviour. • If Blue increases, it means you feel your work situation or professional role demands that you focus more on facts and details than you usually do. As long as you maintain this adaptation, you will be more attentive to the rules in effect and less self-confidant. • If Blue decreases, it means you feel your work situationor professional role demands that you be more independent that you usually are. As long as you maintain this adaptation, you will be less observant of the rules in effect and demonstrate more clearly your ability to work independently. © Copyright Ensize www.ensize.com 10

You might want to consider questions such as: What kind of support do you need from the people around you? What can you do by yourself? Is there some way in which your supervisor can help you?
