As a freshman you are among the last group of students to register. If you wait until the last minute to meet with your adviser to choose your classes and get your PIN, by the time you register most of the classes you want maybe closed.
Your adviser will be helpful, but these decisions are yours. You should give some thought to your classes next semester. Check out a model roster for guidance. Each school has a model roster. Here is the model roster for the School of Arts and Scienceshttp://www.lasalle.edu/catalog/content/print/1/sas_day.pdf#zoom=100&page=4
Be sure to have at least one or twoalternative classes ready as back up when you are unable to get into a class.
Be ready to enter the number as quickly as you can. Remember you are competing with all of the other freshmen who will be registering at the same time.
Just in case one or more of the classes on your original list is closed, you might want enter your alternative as well. You may be better able to get into something you prefer before your are left with no or few choices. You should know that if any of you backups conflict with one of your first choice class it won’t let you register for both
You may need your PIN again over the break. Sometime a class which was closed when you registered opens up after final grades come out and people need to change their schedules. Also, if your computer crashes and you want to register in person, you can take your signed registration paper to the Register’s office to register in person.
If you plan in advance, you can figure out that adding another major may force you to stay another year or if you take some classes in the summer you can add a minor. Planning can also make sure that you have a variety of different classes each semester.
