Identify a local business, contact owner, offer to create a
documentary styled promo video. (visual businesses are best)
Record good sound
Capture appropriate visuals

Proposals due next week. (Who is the Client, 5ws. H?)

Focus on the story
Research
Look for other videos that you like
Learn about the subject
Identify important messages
Plan
Develop a script/outline/shot sheet
5. The Shoot
Shoot
Capture high quality visuals
Wide shot – Establish location
Medium shot – General footage
Close Up – Specific action
Cutaway – hands/other close ups/cuts away from the action
Shoot 10-15 seconds of well composed video
Capture great sound
6. The Edit
Review/log your sound with time code (write it out)
Write a script with visual and audio instructions: Include time code
reference for the editor.
Edit according to the script
Selecting edits:
I want to see still well framed shots
I want to see sequences (wide to medium/medium to close)
I want pacing (edit to the breath)
Chose your best sound bites and b-roll and keep it concise
No transitions
