1 Take the CodeWeek4all challenge
Coding is for all, not just for programmers. It’s a matter of
creativity, of computational thinking skills, of self
empowerment.
Europe Code Week (15th-23rd October 2016) is the best
chance to organize coding initiatives in your School.
If you manage to involve in Code Week activities more than 50%
of all the students enrolled in your School, a personalized
“Certificate of Excellence in Coding Literacy” will be issued by
the European Commission for your School.
This is the CodeWeek4all challenge!
Take the challenge and bring your School to excellence in coding
literacy. It’s challenging, but feasible and rewarding!
15-23October2016
2 Register your School and get the code
You can register your school for free by filling in an online form
to provide:
•Name of the School (as it has to appear on the certificate)
•School level
•Total number of pupils/students enrolled in the School
•E-mail address (your e-mail address)
•Mailing address (at which the certificate has to be sent)
A unique code will be returned by e-mail as soon as you submit
the form. The code will identify your School in the Europe Code
Week system.
If your School has several sites and grades, you can:
•either make a single registration for the whole School (getting a
single code and declaring the overall number of students)
•or make multiple registrations, one for each site/grade (getting
different codes associated with different sites/grades)
15-23October2016
3 Share the code and motivate teachers
The code that you have got by e-mail at Step 2 has to be
associated with all the CodeWeek events organized in your
School.
Share the code with all the teachers in yoru School and ask them
to organize engaging coding activities (i.e., CodeWeek events) in
their classrooms.
There are specific guidelines for teachers. It’s easy to organize a
Code Week event and it does not require any experience with
coding.
All the teachers organizing an event will be awarded a certificate
of recognition.
Recommend the teachers to insert the code of the School in the
description of the events they add to the map.
15-23October2016
Have a great CodeWeek!
This is the best part of CodeWeek!
Enjoy all the coding activities organized in your School and be
proud of teachers and pupils.
What really matters for the success of Code Week events are
engagement, curiosity, and fun.
Make sure that teachers count and annotate the number of
participants and, if authorized, invite them to take pictures and
videos to be used for storytelling.
Making a video of your School engaged in Europe Code Week will
allow you to take part in the storytelling challenge that will be
launched right after Code Week!
4
15-23October2016
Fill in the feedback form
Right after code week, all the teachers who registered their
events on the map will receive an e-mail message.
The message will provide a link to a feedback form where to
report the number of participants to each event.
Upon submission of the feedback form, a
certificate of recognition
will be generated for the
teacher
5
15-23October2016
6
Get your certificate of excellence
from the European Commission
The number of participants in your School will be computed as
the sum of the participants reported by the teachers for all the
events organized in your School (i.e., all the events with the
unique code of your school in the description)
The participation rate will be computed (either for the whole
School or for each site/grade) as the ratio between the total
number of participants as computed from the feedback forms
and the total number of pupils enrolled as declared in the original
registration form
If the participation rate is above 50%, the School will be
awarded a certificate of excellence in coding literacy
A certificate of recognition will be awarded to all the Schools
involving more than 200 students

CodeWeek4all Challenge 2016 - Guidelines for Schools

  • 1. 15-23October2016 21 3 Excellence in coding literacy in 6 steps http://codeweek.eu/codeweek4all/ CodeWeek4all challenge Toolkit for Schools info@codeweek.eu 4 5 6
  • 2. 15-23October2016 1 Take the CodeWeek4all challenge 3 Share the code and motivate your teachers 4 Have a great Code Week 2 Register your School and get the code 5 Report the events 6 Get your certificate of excellence from the European Commission
  • 3. 15-23October2016 1 Take the CodeWeek4all challenge Coding is for all, not just for programmers. It’s a matter of creativity, of computational thinking skills, of self empowerment. Europe Code Week (15th-23rd October 2016) is the best chance to organize coding initiatives in your School. If you manage to involve in Code Week activities more than 50% of all the students enrolled in your School, a personalized “Certificate of Excellence in Coding Literacy” will be issued by the European Commission for your School. This is the CodeWeek4all challenge! Take the challenge and bring your School to excellence in coding literacy. It’s challenging, but feasible and rewarding!
  • 4. 15-23October2016 2 Register your School and get the code You can register your school for free by filling in an online form to provide: •Name of the School (as it has to appear on the certificate) •School level •Total number of pupils/students enrolled in the School •E-mail address (your e-mail address) •Mailing address (at which the certificate has to be sent) A unique code will be returned by e-mail as soon as you submit the form. The code will identify your School in the Europe Code Week system. If your School has several sites and grades, you can: •either make a single registration for the whole School (getting a single code and declaring the overall number of students) •or make multiple registrations, one for each site/grade (getting different codes associated with different sites/grades)
  • 5. 15-23October2016 3 Share the code and motivate teachers The code that you have got by e-mail at Step 2 has to be associated with all the CodeWeek events organized in your School. Share the code with all the teachers in yoru School and ask them to organize engaging coding activities (i.e., CodeWeek events) in their classrooms. There are specific guidelines for teachers. It’s easy to organize a Code Week event and it does not require any experience with coding. All the teachers organizing an event will be awarded a certificate of recognition. Recommend the teachers to insert the code of the School in the description of the events they add to the map.
  • 6. 15-23October2016 Have a great CodeWeek! This is the best part of CodeWeek! Enjoy all the coding activities organized in your School and be proud of teachers and pupils. What really matters for the success of Code Week events are engagement, curiosity, and fun. Make sure that teachers count and annotate the number of participants and, if authorized, invite them to take pictures and videos to be used for storytelling. Making a video of your School engaged in Europe Code Week will allow you to take part in the storytelling challenge that will be launched right after Code Week! 4
  • 7. 15-23October2016 Fill in the feedback form Right after code week, all the teachers who registered their events on the map will receive an e-mail message. The message will provide a link to a feedback form where to report the number of participants to each event. Upon submission of the feedback form, a certificate of recognition will be generated for the teacher 5
  • 8. 15-23October2016 6 Get your certificate of excellence from the European Commission The number of participants in your School will be computed as the sum of the participants reported by the teachers for all the events organized in your School (i.e., all the events with the unique code of your school in the description) The participation rate will be computed (either for the whole School or for each site/grade) as the ratio between the total number of participants as computed from the feedback forms and the total number of pupils enrolled as declared in the original registration form If the participation rate is above 50%, the School will be awarded a certificate of excellence in coding literacy A certificate of recognition will be awarded to all the Schools involving more than 200 students
