This document compares the advantages and disadvantages of WordPress and Joomla content management systems. Some key advantages of WordPress include its ease of use, large plugin and theme community, and SEO friendliness. Some disadvantages include potential crashes when making modifications and more bugs during upgrades. Some advantages of Joomla include its design as a dedicated CMS, extensive customization options, and complex database. Some disadvantages include a less intuitive user interface and templates being more complicated than WordPress. Steps to complete common tasks like adding an image or creating a static page are also compared.
4. 1. WordPress, which is one of the easiest for use
systems available today in the internet. Although,
many people think that the WordPress can be
used for blogging only, you can easily configure it
to work in many other ways. WordPress is most
definitely considered the king of blogging
software.
2. WordPress is a CMS (Content Management
System) .To install that CMS on a server is really
easy. That way you will allow people, who do not
have any knowledge in web development to
create their website for just a couple of hours.
5. 3. WordPress world is full of gracious people who
have created thousands of plugins and attractive
themes that you would like more than that, most
true that those plugins are for blogging, but if you
know where to look you will find exactly what you
want.
4. It is easy to install and quick to use. And has
options for new bloggers and professionals as well –
from one-click to install on your own writing plugins.
Even better, there is strong community able to
provide advice and help much beyond what a
commercial option would provide.
6. 5. If we look in terms of potential, WordPress is
much better. Being simple and fast when it comes
to publishing, is just putting all your information on
a page
6. You will not have to develop additional scripts
to get the comments of other visitors for
example, because they are already built in it.
7. It is the best open source option to manage and
update your website daily. You can find that
WordPress is very SEO friendly and can become a
very effective CMS tool, not just a blogging
platform,if you make a few adjustments to it.
7. 8. WordPress uses from the beginning only one external code interface
– so it uses less code. You do not need modules or components or php
knowledge to get 10 recent articles – three rows of code with
minimum changes from the main loop. WordPress developers are
focused on publishing content and providing developers with one
and flexible interface to core functions.
9. WordPress can be used in everything: blogs, sites of
presentation, photo galleries, shopping and more. It remains only to
attempt.
10. When you have to create a website with more than 10 pages with
different information, you can do this with both platforms. So when
you start to put all the information on the site template, you’ll see the
difference between platforms. It’s simple to accomplish these tasks
With WordPress, as you only have to install some plugins,
11. WordPress offers a simple plugin with less option.
9. 1.WordPress do not provide suitable
workspace for developers, because
when you try to make some modifications
in it, for example to create a shopping
cart, the whole system is likely to crash.
2. When you try to upgrade your existing
system, you will usually end up having
a lot more bugs than you used to.
3. Sometimes is has problems with hosting.
Advantages and disadvantages of
joomla:
11. 1. Joomla was designed from the ground up as a CMS.
2. It is one of the best content management systems for
designers, web developers and administrators. That system
allows all its users to create great looking websites and also it is
really easy for use, by beginners.
3. There are many developers, who create tools, which rapidly
improve the performance of Joomla. If you are a
developer, you can choose that system, because it offers large
capacity for customization and development. Joomla’s
features are constantly improving in the past 3 years and so
you will enjoy many more features.
12. 4. If we look in terms of potential, Joomla uses three levels of
external features.
5. It is friendly for all types of users – designers, developers and
administrators
6. It is “feature-rich” and has more of a “frustration phase” in
which you try to do the slightest modification and it does not
work, of course once you learn to use it and overcome your
frustration it is a great CMS.
7. It package consists of many different parts, which allow
modular extensions and integrations to be made easily.
8. It features numerous capabilities and a developed custom
database work. Joomla includes a complex multiple user
privilege system with user registration and layered content
privileges.
13. 9. Joomla is a database more complex with
some 36 tables.
10. Joomla! is “composed” of two parts: one
part of the front end (which will appear in your
visitor’s browser) and a back end (administrator
– where only you have access). Of
administrator, the administration is virtually
complete map.
11. Joomla! Is a big step forward regarding
eCommerce. After you install VirtueMart on
Joomla! It’s really simple to customize
eCommerce, as multiple options are available
to configure it.
15. 1. When you take a look at the user interface of that
system, you will find that actually is not so easy for use by
people, who do not have any idea of web development
and also it is far from user friendly. Furthermore, after the
recent update of that system to version 1.5.x, there are still
many users, who stick to the old one.
2. It is not enough for everyone to understand. Designers will
choose Joomla because of its amazing capabilities to make
websites look great. Developers will choose this system
because of its large capacity for development and
customization. Joomla is powerful enough to be useful, but
not enough to do anything.
3. Templates are too complicated and painful. The process
involved searching through WP stylesheets and php files to
try and resolve conflicts.
16. 4. When you have to create a website with
more than 10 pages with different
information, you can do this with both
platforms. So when you start to put all the
information on the site template, you’ll see the
difference between platforms. It is difficult to
accomplish these tasks with joomla as you
have to spend a little more time to re-organize
the different module and then the menus from
template. After this you have to link all the
menu items.
