Discipline & Rewards Warnings & Consequences: 1st Warning – Name written down. 2nd Warning – 10 Minutes of time out during recess. 3rd Warning – Letter sent home to be signed. 4th Warning – Sent to principal’s office. Rewards: The bean jar: The class has the opportunity to fill a jar with jelly beans. For positive individual and class behavior the instructor may have the class add jelly beans to the classroom jar. When the jar is filled the class will share 45 minutes of free-time.

5. HomeWork All Homework is to be finished the night that it was assigned, unless otherwise stated. There will be no homework on Fridays. All homework will be graded and returned to students on Fridays with a note for parents to sign. The signed parent notes need to be brought back the following Monday.
6. What will we learn this year? Your child will be applying reading skills in content area subjects such as social studies, science, and health. Study skills will become very important as kids will now be asked to write reports and handle long-term assignments. Your child will also learn how to: Divide by one-and two-digit numbers. Use calculators and computers. Add and subtract fractions. Use contextual clues to discover the meaning of words. Understand and use the steps of the writing process from pre-writing to the final draft. Write research reports. Locate information in the library. Use encyclopedias, newspapers, atlases, and magazines as resources. Understand the history and geography of their state. Recognize how science is at work in the world around them, especially through technology.
7. School Uniforms Monday - Thursday Solid colored , short or long sleeve shirts, tucked in. Khaki or black pants/skirts are to be worn. Skirts cannot be shorter than knee-length. Socks must be worn with close-toed black or brown shoes. Dress Down Fridays Any shirt may be worn as long as the bottom meets the top of the pants and shows no skin in the mid-section. Sleeves must be at least to end of shoulder. Shirts cannot have inappropriate wording on them. Pants may be of any material, including jeans. Pants are to have no holes in them. Pants must not be to form fitting.
8. Fun Fridays If students have not had any time-outs during recess, then they are entitled to Fun Friday. What this means: On Fridays, after lunch, we will return to the class room and have free time for the rest of the afternoon. Students are welcome to sign the list to bring in treats and drinks on various Fridays. Those who are unable to participate in Fun Fridays due to behavior problems will be sent to another classroom with written assignments to complete for the rest of the afternoon.
