During the 2nd ARM Developer Day, we announce a student design competition at various levels to match student skills from freshman to senior and graduate levels.
The target day for project submission is on January 13th and the target day for project delivery will be one week before Imagine RIT.

1. ARM and RIT announce a
Design Competition!
Theme: “Creating a better quality of life”

2. Main Objectives
Use ARM technology create or enhance a system to help
those in need
Young children
Elderly
Disabled (mentally or physically)
Poor
Three broad classifications of projects. Use a development
platform to:
Perform an autonomous function
Perform a particular function along with a communication medium to
report or update events, possibly remote-controlled
Interact with an app running on a tablet or smart-phone

3. Initial Rules
Teams of 2 - 5 students
Submit proposals by January 13th
How are you going to improve someone’s quality of life?
Why is it a good idea?
What is the development timeline and design phases?
What do you need in terms of ARM-based processors, additional
hardware and software development tools?
Competition ends one week before Imagine RIT on April 27th,
2012
Some development tools will be sponsored depending on
participating partners and requirements
Project could possibly count as RIT design project, or some
other course project requirement (?)

4. Judging
Projects will be showcased at Imagine RIT
Designs will be judged based on:
Creativity
Innovation
Effectiveness of solving the problem
Cost efficiency
Wow factor
Judging carried out by:
ARM
RIT students and faculty
Imagine RIT general audience
