2. The Problem(s)
Internet will no longer be optional – yet many can not access or use it
1.Access solutions don’t exist for everyone
2.Current solutions won’t work for all of the new technologies emerging
3.Access solutions are too complex
4.Access solutions are hard to find & find out about
5.Many can’t afford the high cost of access solutions they need
In addition people need access to all the computers they encounter, at work,
home, community, etc. Not just one that is set up for them somewhere.

3. In order to address these problems we need to
1. Make it easier for people to find out that things EXIST that could help
them - and to find out exactly what would help them.
2. Make it possible to make everything they approach change into a form
they can use. Any device. Anywhere. Anytime.
3. Make it possible to get Assistance on Demand anywhere, anytime.
4. Make it simpler and less expensive -- for libraries, public access
points, companies, schools, and individuals.
5. Make it cost less to for companies to Develop, Build, Market,
Support new assistive technologies and services.

7. Each person can set things up so that things
are the way they want them to be -- automatically
 For a person with low vision
– everything they walk up to could automatically have large print
 For blind users
– everything you approach could talk
 For users who are deaf
– captions could appear anytime there was voice
 For people with physical disabilities
– interfaces could have large buttons and require no fine motions
 For people with cognitive disabilities, or people who don’t know or like tech
– interfaces could change to simpler interfaces

8. Not just classic disabilities
 Digital literacy
• For those not familiar with newer technologies – could have interface present
themselves that are base on what they already know for the non-technical world
 Literacy
• Anyone who has trouble reading something – for any reason – could use
anything by just pointing to the text they want and have it read to them – and
learn to read in the process
 Language
• If content is not presented in one’s native language – it could automatically
convert to their language (or both languages if they want to learn the other)
 Cultural
• Have it presented in a form the person understands and is comfortable with.
Or any combinations of the above
– at the user’s preference and choice.

13. In Closing…
With the CLOUD4All and GPII
 We have an unprecedented opportunity to change accessibility in very
fundamental ways
 make it cost less to develop and deploy
 and reach more people (we currently get to 15% or so)
 and serve disabilities and aging groups we don't now
 We also have a chance to build access that will work with the new technologies
that are coming (that won't work with many of our current access strategies)
 Finally, we have the opportunity to build something that can be replicated locally
in other countries
 countries that don't have good access technologies or infrastructure
 allowing them to provide their own full range of access solutions–
by working with GPII and AT vendors to localize solutions from the
GPII (public and commercial) and making them available in their
countries via the GPII.
