President Obama gave his 2014 State of the Union address where he discussed several economic issues and policy proposals. He expressed his willingness to take action on the economy with or without Congressional support. Obama outlined plans to address paycheck fairness, minimum wage, education, student loans, job training, immigration reform, and women's workplace opportunities. He closed by honoring Sergeant Cory Remsburg who was injured in his tenth deployment, and saying "God bless you. God bless the United States of America."

State of the Union Address
President Obama did give a great speech, but many people expected him to be even more
stern than he was already. Towards the beginning of his speech, Obama discussed how he was
willing to take control and help out the economy whether Congress was going to help him or not.
On the other hand, he also said he was willing to work with them as much as possible as long as
they cooperated with his vision. Although Obama has not been able to fulfill all of his hopes and
promises, he still continues to try and express how he will continue on helping the economy. He
has plans on helping the country by pressing towards paycheck fairness, minimum wage,
education, student loans, and job training. Obama explained how he would handle each of these
subjects and why these subjects needed to be handled in the first place. He also discussed how he
was going to fix the immigration reform by stating that these immigrants come to America to
study and fulfill their dreams and they contribute to our culture for businesses to locate and
create more jobs for our people. He also stated how he was going to fix workplace policies
giving women more opportunities, saying how women contribute to this country just as much
and their success means America succeeds. He wants to increase the minimum wage so that
people who work so hard and have jobs that consist of helping others should not be living in
poverty. He also stated that the strength of our citizens’ work ethic is what determines our
success in America. Obama also discusses a dear friend named Cory Remsburg, a sergeant who
in his tenth deployment got injured gravely by a roadside bomb. He describes how Cory didn’t

Obama’s speech was “God bless you. God bless the United States of America.”
