As an idea towards the cause of saving the garment district in NYC a physical space by the name of Source 530 was envisioned.
Source 530 recognizes the need to connect designers and manufacturers through one collaborative hub to create economic value in the garment district. The central hub will be a space where members from the fashion industry can meet face to face, build connections, experience processes, share stories and build reputation, to collectively revitalize the legacy of the garment district.
Source 530 will serve as a one-stop-shop offering services to designers such as a database of surrounding factories, pattern makers, markers & graders, seamstresses, skilled workers, and other services and facilities. It will also provide education and training programs to manufacturers,
jobbers and other members of Source 530. Leveraging the existing talent and craftsmanship in the district by infusing it with necessary networks and collaboration can bolster the economic potential of this area both in district output and end-user engagement. This will position New York as a leader with in the global garment industry.
