NATIONAL ANTI-POVERTY COMMISSION

October 31, 2013
NAPC study shows what P200M can do for poverty
‘Kung hindi sa bathtub, e saan?’
A study of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) reveals that P200 million can benefit poor provinces if the fund
will be spent on specific agricultural infrastructure projects such as concreting of unpaved roads, building of new roads or
setting up irrigation facilities.
Take the case of Davao del Sur: P200M will help deliver agricultural products if the fund will be spent on concreting of
unpaved roads.
The assumption of the cost for each infrastructure project was based on the budget allocation of the Department of Public
Works and Highways (DPWH) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).
Attached infographic and the result of the econometric analysis for the 24 provinces where most of the poor are copra
farmers are available on our website.
