Kotlin is a modern programming language designed for industry use that aims to improve on existing languages like Java. It focuses on readability, allowing code to be written in a cleaner and less verbose manner than other languages, as well as toolability and safety. The language evolved out of the need to address challenges with existing languages after reading large amounts of code over many years.
