Episode Topic: Does adventure games effect the body and mind?
•

•
Subtopic 1: positives and negatives effects on the body and the mind
what are the positive effects on adventure games – I would have expert interview such as a Dr / our
GP with archival images
What are the negative effects on adventure games – use psychologist which would tell us how this is
bad for our brains and how can we prevent this
What can be done to prevent these negative effects? – we would asks public interviews such as
strangers and there opinion while having one person from our group presenting it
Subtopic 2: how has adventure games helps/doesn’t help the brain
we would have an experiment and film while doing the experiment for the audience to believe us if
adventure games helps the brain and how it improves our knowledge
we would have statistics to show our results to the audience about how every type of genre video
game would effect our mind not only adventure
Interview the people playing the video games and ask them how they feel before they played there
adventure games and after
How this can effect them in the future – can ask managers of video game company how they feel
about this
Subtopic 3: the stereotypes on adventure games
We would use archival footage from different adventure games to show the stereotypes such as the
location and where its set (middle east) – use statistics to show the performance on people actios
when playing before and after video games
Interview strangers to ask them about the stereotypes and how they feel (right or wrong)
9. Detailed plan for episode
Action games
Subtopic 1: Fighting games
•How fighting games have evolved over the years and have become more violent (use of archival footage and
photos of different video games-use of a cutaways between the presenter and the archival videos and photos)
•How females are negatively represented / sexualised in fighting games (public interviews to show public
opinion about the portrayal of women)
•How males are represented in action games (expert interview with sociologist to explain how this reinforces
stereotypes to a younger audience)
Subtopic 2: Shooting games
•Positive impacts shooting games can have on the player’s brain and mind (expert interview with scientist that
can prove how shooting games help stimulate the mind-)
•The negative impacts shooting games can have on the player e.g. use of Wii gun replica (public interviews with
mainly mothers so they can express their fears with shooting games)
•How this game genre reinforce stereotypes; through middle east location options, how female characters aren’t
presented (archival footage from video games)
Subtopic 3: Platform games
•How platform games now reach a wider audience through use of technological convergence (use of statistics
to show amount of platform wii games sold-use of footage to show young and old generation playing platform
games together)
•How these type of games reinforce negative gender stereotypes to younger audience e.g.
women=victim(expert interview with sociologist to explain the negative impact this can have)
•Positive effects of playing platform games like ‘Super Mario Bros’ (public interviews with parent to ask their
views on platform games)

Platforms used for
purpose video games
Laura Cuk
•What are purpose video games and what are the different types that fall under this category? (purpose = there will be a
presenter introducing the purpose of video games then cutaways to a voice over including archival photos of each game that falls
under this category)
•What type of audience (considering representation of age etc.) does this product attract?
•Purpose video games are usually targeted for mid teens. Is there any other social groups that purpose video games target at?
•What are the positive effects of purpose video games regarding mentality and physicality? (for this question there will be
experiments to show how purpose video games are effecting society in a positive way)
•What are the negative effects of purpose video games regarding mental health and physical health? (I think that an expert
interview will be applicable for this question)
•If there is an addiction of playing purpose video games, what would these video games be and why do video gamers become
so addicted to these particular games?
•What are the different platforms used in order for video gamers to play these games? (for this question I will show animation
of each of the platforms and giving examples of the games that are used on these platforms)
•Which platforms are more convenient to use for purpose video games? (for this question I will show some statistics, i.e. pie
charts, graphs as well as having a voice over applied)
